A year long plan, as far as I know, only exists as a prepaid 360 day plan. This does not have roaming as an option at all. Can you double check if it is a prepaid or postpaid plan you got?

So that would be considered roaming.  Being able to connect to another country’s network (regardless of what features you are using).

Prepaid only roams in the US and no other country outside of Canada.  What country are you in while studying abroad?

My goal would be to talk to a representative, but since I don’t have any service, and they don’t accept international numbers, I’m not sure how best to proceed. Do you have any suggestions? Receiving texts requires that you are roaming since you have to be onnected to a network. Unfortunately prepaid simply cannot work for this purpose. Since you got it 2 hours ago, I would try to get it refunded. Prepaid is more difficult to get purchased service refunded, but I really thnk this should count as it’s been 2 hours and purchased not knowing it won’t work for your use.

You’ll need a postpaid plan, or you’ll need to get a VOIP service that gives a Canadian number to receive texts overseas. If you wish to remain with Koodo, you’ll need to get the $15 dollar a month starter plan, which has international roaming, so you can receive MFA texts at no extra cost.
