Pretty much the title I hit my expected 3GB limit and went to check the site to see if I could buy more data but was surprised to find my limit was in fact 28GB and now I'm panicking thinking in gonna get charged for 25gb of extra data I never asked for

The 25GB add-on costs $0 though. You wouldn’t have to pay.

Can you share the detail of your plan (no personal information please)? It appears you had the $0 25GB at some point in the past.

It just setting off my "to good to be true" alarm,

wondering what the catch is. I've received too many surprise bills in the past.

$50 plan currently allows you to have 50GB of data, addition of 25GB isn’t a “too good to be true” add-on though. If you are happy with current plan, you don’t have to worry.

You could also look into newer plan https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-rate-plan?

I should note I didn't recieved the usual shock free data warnings I'm used to which is why I didn't know I was so close to maxing it out

Don’t know for sure, but Koodo has from time to time has given free data add-ons to select customers (read about them in other forums).  Of course, I have never received one on (sour grapes).  Usually though, they will advise by email or text that they are giving you one.

Purely a guess, but after seeing your plan, you have received the free addon because your plan cost is much greater than current market for, your data amount.  (Koodo is currently offering 60 GB for $50.00 on the website).  Your base, plan  must be pretty old.  The trend over the last few years has been to include much more data in plans versus say 5 or more, years ago.

You should’ve gotten some sort of email/text about it but there was a recent similar promo at least from back in August that was going around.
