Why would I need "Canada wide booster add ons" if I would get unlimited Canada-US calling with this plan?:

That plan doesn’t include roaming to US bytheway. I guess that is where the confusion came from. You will have to pay extra for roaming.

Since this plan includes unlimited Canada wide minutes, you will not need to buy Canada wide booster add-ons.
Per para 9 of the fine print, it only says “roaming package is needed:
“Talk, text and data services refer to services offered while connected to the Telus/Koodo network. For service when not connected to the Telus/Koodo network, a roaming package must be purchased. Calls must originate from Canada to the US. “
