Switched over to Koodo and have no data

My wife switched me over Koodo from Public Mobile because of the plan you offered her. The Koodo rep added me to her account and signed me up for the plan I wanted. We were offered (after then discount for auto payments) the same price plan as I had with public mobile $30.00 + tax for 25GB. You sent a SIM card and we got it set up on my phone but now I find out I do not have any data.  What did we do wrong? How do I get the data restored that was promised to me and put onto our bill?

Thank you

Wife speaking now, taking over from the totally not techie husband. After reviewing everything, I looked closer at the plan and it seems that the agent at the time, only signed him up for a phone/text plan instead of a data plan as promised. So I went in and changed him to a data plan and he is now up and working again. Sorry for the problems he caused. All is now well. Thanks for the help you did give. Much appreciated.

Hey! No worries, this happens sometimes when switching carriers.

Here are two quick things to try:

  1. Restart your phone and make sure “Mobile Data” is turned on in your phone’s settings.
  2. Check your APN settings (these control mobile data).

Sometimes new SIMs don’t set these up right. Look for “Access Point Names” in your phone’s Network settings and make sure it matches Koodo’s. You can just find the exact settings here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone.

A couple questions to help narrow it down:

  • What phone are you using?
  • Is your wife’s data working fine?

Let me know how it goes!

To answer your questions

  • The phone is a Samsung S20 FE
  • Yes. My wife’s data is working no problems what so ever.

I restarted the phone and checked the APN setting and it says Koodo SP and underneath that, is says sp.koodo.com

Did you insert your SIM card into your wife’s phone to see if it works?

Sorry. Not at all techie. If I do that will it not screw up her data/information? How do I know then if it works?

It will not affect her in any way. You are only putting in your SIM card to see whether or not you are able to use your cellular data. I would suggest you to try visiting a few websites and wait for the screen to load. If it does not work, you can confirm that it is an issue with the SIM card.

What do you mean you have no data?

Are you saying the plan as it is displayed in self serve shows it is a plan with no data?  Or are you saying you have a plan with data but your phone is unable to use data?
