Streaming service activation issue: Crunchyroll

Earlier this week I decided to try the streaming services bundle that koodo offers. i wanted the crunchyroll mega fan option that is shown on the shop under streaming and more
once I purchased it, the option to activate my account appeared on the self serve page. there was a big activate button under the crunchyroll option
I clicked activate immediately, which opened my browser to the crunchyroll website where I was already logged in on a fresh non subscribed account
crunchyroll then said my activation link was expired. I clicked the link several times, but it just kept saying expired and would not link my koodo account to crunchyroll
the koodo site then said my account on crunchyroll was active and changed the activate button to the launch button which only opens my browser to crunchyroll.
I have confirmed several times since then that my crunchyroll account is still a free user and my accounts are not linked
I called support for assistance since it seems I need a new activation link. I spoke with 4 different reps for over an hour, and no one seemed capable  of providing a new activation link
the rep said that they would elevate the ticket to technical support, and they responded  while I was at work. and they assisted me by turning off auto renew on my stream+ account, which I was not having any issues with at all, and is something I could have easily done myself.

If I cancel my subscription, the only option is to renew the monthly payment, It does not give me an option to create  a new activation link.

I contacted crunchyroll who unfortunately says I have to go through koodo support to get a new activation link.

has anyone here ever been through this or can assist me with this issue?

If you activated and went to the cruchyroll page that already had an existing account, they asked you to cancel it first. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/crunchyrollsupport As well, is the new account using the same email as your Koodo one?

As of now, you would have to ask Koodo for tech support - which you already did? I would suggest you wait them to come back to you.

it was a fresh crunchyroll account, never had a subscription on it.

Koodo “tech support” seems to be a joke, the way they “helped” was by cancelling my subscription for a completely different subscription.

I tried to contact them again, only got chat support, since you can’t call them yourself, I explained what was happening, and after 40 mins they just didn’t respond.

Sorry you're having such a tough time with this. One extra thing you might try is **removing the Crunchyroll add-on from your Koodo account, waiting a few hours, and then re-adding it** through Self Serve. Sometimes this forces the system to generate a brand new activation link, which could help if the old one is stuck or expired. Make sure you’re fully logged out of all Crunchyroll accounts in your browser before clicking the activation button again, or even try using a private/incognito browser window to avoid any session issues.

What subscription was accidently canceled?

Is your Crunchyroll canceled yet?

@Adamf

We are sorry for this experience!

We see that you managed to get in touch with a rep in the meantime.

Was the Crunchyroll subscription cancellled properly? Was the other subscription re-activated/ resumed?

I spoke to a technical support rep. One with a little more knowledge this time.

He told me on Koodos end my account link went through just fine, "it's ready to watch" and he gave me an account id that Crunchyroll could use to link my account property. He also told me that this is all he can do. There is nothing more, not even a refund on my purchase if Crunchyroll can't fix this.

He assured me with 100% confidence that Crunchyroll would be able to fix my issue with this account id, and I wouldn't have any more issues.

I spoke with a Crunchyroll rep, going around in circles as they tried to somehow tell me this issue was my or Koodos fault. Firstly, I used the wrong email address on my Crunchyroll account.

Koodo and Crunchyroll accounts must have the same email... Why? My old account has all my watch history and saved playlists. Nowhere during the setup, or anywhere on their support page does it state it needed to be the same. Netflix, Disney, and Amazon don't have the same email address (not really relevant I know, but just an example).

i had already made a new Crunchyroll account with the same email address as my Koodo account, in case this excuse came up. On the Crunchyroll support page it states that if I linked the wrong account to contact their support not Koodo, so they changed tactics.

Then they said my payment didn't go through, even though I had already provided screenshots showing the payment posted, and screenshots of my Koodo page showing the active status for Crunchyroll.

The account id I was provided by the Koodo rep meant nothing to them apparently. (Of course). And Crunchyroll stated that I need to go back to Koodo to deactivate the link.

In the end they gifted my account a month of premium, saying look we fixed it, but that really didn't fix anything, since my account is still not linked. And once that gift expires, if it doesn't fix the issue I have to go through all of this again.

They told me to cancel my renewal, wait 30 days for it to expire, and see if the Crunchyroll addon will unlink itself so I can get a new account activation link. I have cancelled my auto-renewal, and I’m not sure if I want to go through any more after it expires.

No one seems to be able to fix this, it's one side saying it's the others fault. Absolutely embarrassing, how can you not just create a new activation link, or simply unlink the account?  How is there no control or product knowledge on your own offers you promote?

Really frustrating...

(edit: the tech I spoke to was the one who had deactivated my Streaming+ bundle earlier. He advised that was what he was asked to do by the earlier reps support ticket, I guess there was confusion over which product I was talking about.  I was able to renew that product successfully).

@Adamf

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback!

We understand that this was a frustrating experience for you and we apologize for any misunderstanding  with our reps over the phone.

According to the support article on our website, related  to the Crunchyroll subscription, in case there is already an active subscription that you have with Crunchyroll, this would need to be canceled first with Crunchyroll, then wait for the billing period to end, and then subscribe through Koodo, using the same email address that you had originally with Crunchyroll. This way, it would allow you to keep the watch history and preference from the original account.

In case of linking a wrong account, unfortunately, there isn’t an option for Koodo to unlink it, and relink it with the correct one.

The linkage to the correct one might be possible with Crunchyroll, but if not, then the only way would be to cancel it with Koodo, then wait for the billing period to end, and sign up again by linking the correct account.

Good to hear the Stream+ subscription was successfully renewed!

Enough please. If I have to say both of my Crunchyroll accounts never had any subscription before again…

So, what you're saying is, if I had a Crunchyroll account with a different email address, I have to make a new Koodo account using the same email address in order to keep my watch lists and watch history…

Do you get how confusing, bloated, and inconvenient that sounds? Especially since 5 mins before I activated streaming+ (Netflix, Disney, and Amazon) all with a different email addresses on those accounts with no issues whatsoever, and I was able to keep my history.

Whatever, it is what it is, I'm done thinking about this. We'll see in 30 days if it actually removes itself from my account.

 Worst $12 I've ever spent.
