I purchased a new prepaid plan which stated it was for 30 days.  (This evening (the 15th) at 7pm)

After purchasing, the new plan says it plan is from the 14th to the 13th of next month.

That’s 29 days.

I want my 30th day please and thank you.

I counted the days from 7pm of today until August 13th at 7pm. I used the calendar to count. That’s 29 days.

Try this: ask Siri or whatever what date is 30 days from today? I’ll bet the answer is the 14th of August.

Siri must not be counting today (your question does say from today) which is when your service begins.   I did the count and also come to August 13th being Day 30.  Cannot always trust what a computer tells you.

I've used prepaid for about twelve years and this is how it's always been calculated. If you want a fixed date for the plan to renew, you should move to postpaid.

Edit to say: counting starts from 1, not from zero. Today is day one (as Russ also mentioned).

30 days is 30 24 hour periods.

They calculated a day as in "calendar day" from 0 hour to midnight, not a 24 hour period unfortunately.

The apathy is palpable.

I don’t want to switch to prepaid because, as you might already know, it’s going to require a new sim card.

This “method” of charging for a “30 day plan” has an issue and, although I’m not going to lose sleep over it, it’s unfair and benefits the Corporation because they steal pennies. These add up over customers and over time.

When you buy a plan on the 15th, it should show that it starts on the 15th, not the previous date. That’s rather unfortunate to you? I think it’s highway robbery and if no one bothers to complain, they get away with it. Apathy.

Your plan started on the 15th.

As Sofia mentioned July had 31 days so you had to take that into account as well.

If you had a calendar nearby, I personally recommend you count 1 to 30 from the 15th july and see which date you get to in August. It might be the simplest way instead of the forum or Siri.

Oh boy, … here's an idea for you.

I suggest you activate your plan at 00:01 after midnight so at least you'll get your money's worth out of that first day.

You better not sign up for postpaid after all and find out that February only has 28 days 🤪

It's not apathy, it's simple math.

As stated in the first post - the calendar was used to count the days starting from the 15th.

Thirty days from the 15th is the 14th of August. This is a fact even when July has 31 days.

When you begin counting, the first 24 hour period, or “day” isn’t the 15th. That’s where the issue is.

Once a day has passed after changing the plan (which was at 7pm on the 15th) it would then be the 16th.

That’s normally what we call “day one”

So, Day ONE is once we reach 7pm on the 16th. How hard can this possibly be for you to understand?

There was no mention in the small “nitty gritty” stuff about losing hours in your first day if you don’t begin the plan at 00:01 of that day.

The plan says “30 Days from when you activate”.

And which Telco counts prepaid phone service by the hour, or minute, or second?

It IS 30 days.

It doesn’t say 720 hours.

Any service will count the the day of Activation/installation as a day of service (ex. your home internet, netflix, spotify, home alarm monitoring, even your mortgage on possession day of your home, etc).

And it only occurs on the the day of sign up. Going forward you get the full 24 hours.
