I am looking at getting a sim for my cars stereo, currently i have both my wife and I on a contract with 50GB each threw Koodo. i would prefer sharing my data from one of my plans to my cars, since we do have so much data, and would totally be ok paying 10-15 a month to do this. Now my cars stereo does support android auto but would prefer using the native software instead of a link to my phone.  If i cant share that data on my existing plan without using something like hotspot or android auto then, i am either looking for a data only plan or a plan that under 25 a month that has at least 5GB of data that i could use to stream Spotify, use google maps and do the odd lookup.  the end goal is not to have a third $50 a month bill for something that doesn't make or receive calls, if that's the case then ill search elsewhere, as i know there are $25 small data plans out there but they jut dont have much to them when koodo seams to offer alot more for a little more in cost, but again i feel like there should be a data only addon or something that isn't advertised on the site. Any help would be appreciated.

It very much depends on your car stereo’s make and model to determine if it can connect to a wifi signal.  But the most popular method to “give your car data” to use spotify or google maps is to use Apple Car Play or Android Auto (either via wired connection or bluetooth).

Is there a reason you want to avoid android auto?

Koodo does have a $15/4GB tablet plan that comes with no talk mins or text.  So if you use it for text or talk it will be pay per use rates.

Hello Dennis, thank you or the quick response, so my stereo supports wifi, bluetooth, android auto and carplay both wirelessly or wired…. but what i have found on shorter trips i spend more time trying to get the Android Auto to connect and work then its worth… i spend 3-4 minutes connecting or waiting for it to connect, sometimes having to restart my phone and then opening what i want.  As for the Android software built in to the head unit stereo i can use the play store download all the car specific apps i want…it comes back to everything i left at including my driving apps…. just a overall better experience then using the android auto wirelessly. i live in a small city so its either a short trip where i only need one song to get to work or honestly anywhere in town in under 10 minutes. Then 2-3 times a month we need to leave town and will use more data during those trips… but to spend 3 min setting it up for a 3 min drive is a waste of my time… so this is why i want the plan… the $15 plan but the site states “Put up to $15/mo. for 24 months on your Tab towards a new tablet.” makes be believe i need to be on contract and buy a tablet…

That is correct. You need to purchase a tablet in order to get a data plan.

You can get a $0 tablet on Tab plus with $305 added to your Tab bonus (so basically they want you committed for $24 months).
