If I use self service to add the International Long Distance addon, is it added immediately? I.e., can I place a call as soon as I’ve added it at the saver rates?
I need to call New Zealand on rare occasions, and it would pay for itself after the first 3 minutes. But I also go months without needing to call, so I’d rather just add it when needed then cancel. Does that work?

Regarding the question " is it added immediately”, Yes it is in effect immediately once you add that addon (and got confirmation from Koodo).
Calling cards or voip services would likely be better for you. You can remove add-ons after one billing cycle, so if you decide you need it for a month, you can remove on the start of your next billing cycle, sure. But then you have to ensure you do those vs just using Skype or Fongo and adding international credits as you need.
