Existing Customer Deals

We have been waiting for Black Friday in the hope.of a good deal. But as an existing customer we have been offered nothing.

If we were new we could get a $40 a month with 50gb data but being an existing customer we get the message to 'log in and save" . When we do all we are offers are plans starting at $60!

So no savings there. Yes they have more data but we don't need more.

Please can we put my husband's line on the $40 a month deal?

We have been with Koodo for 17 years.

Thanks

Hey there,

Totally get why that’s frustrating; Koodo’s Black Friday deals for new customers (like that $40/50GB plan) often don’t apply to existing lines, which sucks after being with them for 17 years.

Unfortunately, you can’t just switch your husband’s existing line to that $40 plan online because those promos are typically for new activations or new lines only.

You can check if adding a *new line* for him qualifies for the $40 plan, then maybe move his number to that new line (a bit of a hassle but sometimes works) (he would need to port out of Koodo then port back in = hassle). Weird that the “log in and save” just shows $60+ plans with no discount, but that’s standard for Koodo’s Black Friday deals; mostly new customer focused.

The gap between $40 and $60 feels like a real gap though, so if Koodo won't budge on getting him that rate, you could always check what other carriers are offering for existing customers in your area. Sometimes that pressure helps.

Does your husband also happen to be currently paying off a device tab? As this will limit the plans that are available to switch to until the term is complete. A lot of the cheaper plans you see are specifically for bring your own device - not on a tab.

Companies have not really cared about loyalty for a while now as now that they’re incredibly large, all that matters is more growth for more revenue. There are lots of deals available so now might be the time to shop around. Just note if you’re still on contract this will have to be paid off if you leave including the tab bonus.

Koodo has avoided giving these plans to existing customers while some other carriers have granted it. It’s been YMMV if you schedule a callback to ask to have the plan given to you. It’s really annoying that you have to go that route and then it’s not even guaranteed.

You can still schedule a callback through Koodo Assist and speak with a rep to see if there is any way to change your plan. There are no guarantees, but it is worth a try. Note there will be a $15 fee for getting a rep to do it for you. https://Koo.do/Chat

Thank you so much to all who have responded.

I got it completely WRONG! Ooooops!

The $40 deal is only for bring your own device.

My husbands tab is all paid up so I think we can change the plan to get this or a similar plan.

Its only if we want to upgrade his phone that we would have to take a more costly plan.

However I am a bit disappointed with Koodo’s deals this year. They are usually combined with getting a new phone at a good price too. But not this year.

Thanks again for all the advice. Much appreciated.

If you want to get a new device, you can always go to the big-box retailers for better deals, such as Walmart and Best Buy. While the plans are relatively the same, they may have special offers for specific devices and they might even come with a gift card for a new activation or upgrade.

Though your loyalty is commended, Black Friday is when customers play musical chairs and switch to the next provider who will give the deals.  THis is the only sure fire way to get the new activation promo plans
