Disappointed

My wife and I have been loyal Koodo customers since about 2010, and have had nothing but good things to say about their service and customer service whenever I have had to deal with someone which has not been that often.

However I am disappointed now in the fact that Koodo very rarely has plans for existing customers that are less than what I pay now. I mean we really do not need all the data we have, and don’t need a new phone where is where a lot of the deals come from.

Like most carriers they give better deals to entice new customers which is a smart business decision, but does not give options for long time customers.

I also do not like the fact that I can’t get deals because I am paying with credit card. Sorry some of us don’t like giving our banking information and are being penalized as well.

This will not drive me to a competitor yet, but I’m getting tired of these two issues.

Not that it makes it any easier, but this is a standard practice amongst all carriers. If you switch to a different carrier, the same thing will likely happen and you’ll be searching again.
If you aren’t seeing anything that entices you in your self serve, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to the loyalty/retention department at Koodo and ask what better offers they have. I called in during the holiday season last year and changed to a plan that was only for new activations. Annoying that you have to jump though hoops, but it can pay off.

Unfortunately, the best way to get a good deal is to switch over to another carrier as a new customer. However, it would be worthwhile to occasionally check your Self-Serve account for exclusive offers.

Some of the deals over the last 2 years for existing customers has been exorbitant amounts of data and the very first Canada-US plans.  These were not available to new customers.

The auto pay by bank discount is an annoyance. I do strongly agree with that.  It is a very opposite strategy compared to Rogers/Fido who are pushing people to credit card, especially the Rogers Red credit card which gives a bonus cashback for using it for Rogers/Fido services

I used to work with one of the carriers for 5 years. It just is such a pain to have to call in when they all encourage you to use the self serve. But again, what can you do otherwise really?
