Hello,

I’ve just added an easy roam travel pass to my account for an upcoming trip (the 30 day europe one). I have a few questions about the details:

-I am wondering what my settings on my phone  should be once I land in Europe: should I have roaming off or roaming on?
-Do I need to also enable easy roam on my Koodo account? Or are the two separate things?

-what kind of calls can I make/receive without charge? My current phone plan allows for unlimited calls within Canada. For example could I make a phone call to Canada for free?

-can I travel to multiple European countries on the list without problem?

thank you for your help :)

Roaming will need to be turned on if you want to use data.

Easy Roam is separate than that travel pass. Travel Pass will override easy roam so don’t worry about having both active if you do.

You can make and receive calls to Canada and the country that you’re currently travelling in.

Yes. If it’s on the list, then you’re covered!

Hi @SparklySeaweed

You can turn roaming on in your phone settings once you land in one of the eligible countries covered by the European travel pass.

Once you start using the services in roaming, this is when the counter for the 30 days starts.

You can keep Easy Roam on your account while you have the European Travel Pass active. Easy Roam daily will only trigger when you travel and use the service to a country not included in the European Travel Pass, or if using the service in roaming after the European Travel pass ends.

You can make calls to Canada and in the country you travel, without triggering additional charges. If your plan has unlimited calling Canada wide, you won’t be charged additionally when calling Canada or numbers in the country you roam.

Yes, you can travel and use the services in multiple countries included tin the European travel pass, while the European Travel pass is active.

More info about the Koodo travel passes can be found here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/europe-easy-roam-travel-passes?srsltid=AfmBOooV_blNlcHatp2kLM2x4HL0TzvjGO7xeNmUxeN5ClzaOYGK6Vvl

Oh great! These answers are so helpful, thank you for taking the time to reply :)

Just to clarify: I will leave Easy Roam inactive on my account to avoid using it by mistake. This will not interfere with my ability to use my Easy Roam Travel Pass. I will turn roaming on in my phone settings once in a European country on the list (I have lots of data and will want to use it)

And about calling, i will be spending a lot of time in border areas- so I am able to make free calls in the country that I am in- not other countries on the list, is that correct? And if so, how much would it cost to make a call to a neighbouring country? (As I am scared this might happen by mistake when so close to the border- and all countries on the list of course).

Am I able to text anyone anywhere? As I am able to now from Canada (my plan has unlimited international SMS and MMS as my perk)

And finally, I will likely want to add another Easy Roam Travel pass to my account while I am away. Is the best time to do this in the days before my first one expires? Would this mean I have uninterrupted service?

Thanks so much for taking the time to help! Is this information anywhere on website? I did quite a deep dive and was unable to find these kinda of details

@SparklySeaweed

You can keep Easy Roam International in your add ons, the European Travel Pass will override it while still active and as long as you are in one of the covered countries.

This article explains how to prevent unwanted roaming charges:

Calls to other countries other than the country you roam in and Canada won’t be covered by the European Travel Pass nor by Easy Roam International. Pay per use charges will apply.

For example, if you are in Spain and want to call in France, pay per use roaming applicable for Spain will apply ($2/ minute at the moment). More info here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/payperuse

Outgoing text messages should be covered by European Travel Pass/ Easy Roam International, so there shouldn’t be additional pay per use rates for it.

You should be able to add another Easy Roam travel Pass once the current one expires or drops from your account.

We will send feedback regarding the FAQ section we shared above, however, you can also use the search function here on community for other questions related to travel passes, as there were some discussions previosuly about it and if you have any other questions, feel free to start a post and we will do our best to help!

Wouldn’t it be easier to keep easy roam off since I don’t want to be able to use it by mistake? Or is there some benefit to having it on?

Again, thanks for all the info, it’s been very helpful. I did read the other discussions about roaming/travel and the links you gave, and they do have bits of information, but not the answers to most of the questions you answered here. The info about easy roam is helpful, but im not sure how much of it is the same for the easy roam travel pass- adding a note on that would be helpful too

thanks!!

Thanks for the feedback @SparklySeaweed

Glad that we were able to help!

The good part about having the Easy Roam Interntational add on added to your services is that, in case of accidental roaming usage incurred prior to adding the European Travel Pass or after it expires, the daily fee $16 will apply instead of pay per use, which are more expensive.

Oh, that makes sense! I will definitely turn it on then. Thank you
