If the add-on was a promotion of your plan at that time, you would lose it when you switch your plan to a new one.
Are you planning to switch to a plan with similar or more data? Then it's kind of moot.

Yeah, that’s the thing, I don’t remember if the promo was for a new customer or for the particular plan..

it is the same thing though, data add-on was attached to the plan (that was for new customers).
