Basic Plan Data Add-On

Hello Community,

I intend to buy the 15$ basic plan and will be bringing my own phone. I see this plan includes 250MB of data.

I would like to know if this plan is eligible for any Data Add-Ons? For example: i am looking at a monthly Add-on for 1 GB of data. I do see the next available plan has 3GB of data but it costs 35$, and that is expensive for my use case.  I have looked around on the website, but i do not see a data add-on option.

Also, is the basic plan's 250MB eligible for rollover data feature?

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

Hi there,

So you can add an extra 1GB of data to that plan by texting 25YES to 5537. You would have to do this each month and the cost is $29 each time. Based on this price, and I'm sure you would agree, it would be much better to go with the $35 option πŸ˜… I'll leave a link with this info.

The $15 plan is not eligible for rollover data as it is not a pick your perk plan. If you check koodo's website, it outlines the pick your perk plans and what perks are allowed per plan. If you have more questions, feel free to ask! πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Thank you @Oliver C ! So, essentially there is no Data -Add on available but we can use pay-per-use data once the monthly allocation ends. Does Koodo offer any promotions occasionally to get some data added on to a plan in use for a price lower than 29$ per GB? πŸ™‚

So sometimes, however, I have mostly seen the add ons on the prepaid service, not with the starter plans.

Have you considered prepaid? I just realised that they offer a $25 3GB option. It is 4G LTE data opposed to the 3G data that you get with the postpaid starter plan as well which is much better and would be a good option for someone who owns there own phone and wants to keep the cost low.

There are downsides though to going with prepaid. Would you like me to list a few of the differences? πŸ™‚

You may consider some of Public Mobile’s plans if you wish to stay under the Telus umbrella. Currently there’s a $19 plan with 1GB of data with unlimited talk and text. And $24 for 4GB, $26 for 20GB if you feel you need more. A lot of these plan offers are listed as ending today, however.
