5G Slower than LTE in Markham/Richmond Hill area

I switched from a 4G plan to 5G plan a few months ago.  I was getting 5G speed (>100Mbs) initially after switching.  A few days after, the network speed dropped back to 30Mbps and it took a few seconds to load fast.com.  I reached out to technical support and they weren’t able to help even added the 5G+ perk and the speed still slow.  The agent mentioned there was a 5G promotion plan which was cheaper than my current plan.  I made the switch and the speed increased to over 100Mbps in the same location which was previously at 30Mbps.  I suspect Koodo/Telus is having some kind of throttling logic which is limiting my data speed.  Otherwise, I can’t explain why switching from one 5G plan to another 5G plan would increase the speed.

For other people who is interested in Koodo 5G plans, I got around 30Mbps in Markham/Richmond Hill/Stouffville area on a 5G plan.

I’m at a bit of a loss myself there. If you’ve already opened a technical support ticket on the matter, there’s not much else here. I haven’t noticed a speed difference when I’m in the area personally.

I should make myself clear that the 5G speed was maintained for a short period of time.  I got 30-40Mbps most of the time in north of Toronto.  I only got real 5G speed once when I was in downtown Toronto.
