360 Plans Not Available to Existing Customers

I am an existing Koodo customer. How to I access the 360 Day Plans? Or do I have to cancel my service and sign up as a new customer with new sim card?

Unfortunately, Koodo customers can’t switch to 360 Day Plans; they’re promo offers locked to new activations only, like BYOD or new lines with a fresh SIM (you can switch by scheduling a callback apparently).

Your options:

  • Stick with your current plan (best to keep grandfathered perks).
  • - Change to a postpaid plan in Self Serve (loses legacy plan forever).
  • - Cancel and rejoin as “new” risks promo expiry or number loss; not worth it.

Check Self Serve for today’s postpaid deals instead. What plan are you on now?

I had the $15 pre-paid plan with 100 MIN per 30 days. Over the year, Koodo has raised it to $18 and removed all minutes from it. I assume this is due to the 3G disconnect in the new year. There is a new $18 4G plan that I may switch to, but as I only need text and talk, the 360 plan at $149 would be perfect for me.

I had assumed I could port my number if I signed up as another customer., while still having my current account active. Is this not the case? I have been trying to buy a sim card locally so I could do it myself, but stores won’t sell one without instore activation.

It is a known issue that customers cant switch to 360 day plans in self serve. By scheduling a call with a prepaid rep, they will switch you to the 360 day plan.

Just note that when they go to switch the plan, they will require you to pay the plan cost which is the same as you see on their website upfront as that is standard with a prepaid plan change.

Regarding the sim, I imagine its the reps just wanting to get paid as the job is commission based on sales. You're allowed to purchase koodo sims from stores, they're $10 + tax each.

Thanks Oliver for the notice. I have made a call back request. Hopefully that works out.

I have been to a Telus/Koodo store, a Telus/Koodo mall kiosk and Walmart, all who have refused to sell me a sim card without in-store activation, is there anything I can tell them or some documentation I can provide to let me purchase one? I would like to give one as a gift this Christmas so a friend can activate a 360 plan on her phone and buying locally is my only option to get it in time.

I can purchase sim cards from other carriers such as No-Frills, Lucky Mobile and Virgin, but not Koodo, however the 360 day plan would be perfect if only we could be allowed to buy it.

Unfortunately not. There is technically no documented policies for just selling sim stock as far as I can tell, which it is why it is surprising they're not selling it to you but I have met reps who have had similar behaviors to get a sale. However, on their website it does specifically say:

"For a SIM card: Order today through TELUS.com, or get one at your nearest store."

You can try and reference this and hopefully that works. Beyond that, the only other thing I can suggest is calling a different store further away and have them confirm over the phone that you can purchase a sim card. Other than that, you would have to order one and have it delivered to your friends address.

Many thanks to Robert T and Oliver C for your help. I’ve rarely received useful help from technical support forums/communities in the past, so I didn’t expect much to happen from this today.

I have since had a callback and now have a 360 day plan activated. I will try purchasing a sim card again tomorrow at another store.

Cheers
