Suddenly I can not receive or make phone calls on my OPPO FIND X7 phone

I have been using Koodo since last Nov.  My phone is OPPO FIND X7 (bought from China),  about 1 week ago,  suddenly I can not receive or make phone calls.   When people calling me,  after few rings,  the call goes to the voice mail.   When I call someone,  I do not hear phone ring.

If I put another SIM card (say from FIDO) into my phone,  I can make or receive phone calls.   This means my OPPO phone is working.   If I put KOODO SIM card into an Iphone,  I can make or receive phone call with any problem.

This leads me to believe there are some network compatible issues with my OPPO phone,  but when I call Koodo customer service,  no one can help me.   One CSR asks me to replace the SIM card which I did,  and still the same issue.

Anyone there can help me or encountered the same issue ?

Koodo does not support your device for VOLTE

So in the past you were relying on 3G voice service.  Currently all networks are gradually repurposing 3G towers for LTE.  It looks like you were impacted by this shutdown of certain 3G bands.

If you login to you self serve you should see offers to upgrade your phone on tab for $0 upfront

Hi,

Have you checked if the phone is compatible with Koodo’s network using the link below? Does it show compatibility?

From looking up the OPPO device, the phone lacks some of Koodo’s primary 4G/VoLTE frequencies, so there likely is a compatibility issue. It does support some 3G frequency, but with 3G networks shutting down, coverage may be unreliable.

Fido, on the other hand, supports more of the phone’s frequencies, which is probably why calls work on a Fido SIM but not on Koodo.

Reviewing the Oppo find X7 shows pentaband 3G, and just about every frequency band that Telus has for 4G? 4, 7, 26, and more, except for 1900 in 4G. Unless Koodo has specifically made your area heavily dependent on that particular band suddenly, I’m not sure what Koodo has changed to make it so you’re connected to Koodo, but not able to make or receive calls. Koodo does maintain a white list of phones for VoLTE. It’s possible that they have been getting more strict lately with newer models.

Can you send/receive text messages? I guess you don’t have a 5G compatible plan right now with Koodo? How is data? What network do you show as connected to?

I’m going to suggest you try Shizuku + IMS method to get it recognized. You can find lots of how-tos online.
