Sent a text to a buddy who is overseas, and was wondering if he will receive it. I’ve read that it will be deleted if it can’t make it to the intended receiver after 24h 48h or even 72h is this true?

That is correct. The text messages will be stored for up to 5 days, assuming they are using Telus or one of their sister companies. For Rogers, it is only available for delivery up to 72 hours.
