SMS does not work after transferring from Fizz

I just transfer from Fizz e-sim to Koodo sim tonight.  Data works, call works but SMS didn’t work.  In fact, the welcome message went to the old Fizz Android phone.  The iPhone with the koodo number cannot send/receive sms.  I disabled RCS and removed the esim proflle from the old Fizz phone but that didn’t help.

 

I tried to use the Koodo sim with the old fizz Android phone and it is stuck at status: 3000 activitating.  I uninstall updates and it is still stuck at Status: Setting up… right now.  If I put the sim card in iPhone, it will get stuck at Verifying in iMessage.

 

Is there anything else I can do other than hoping this will resolve itself over night?

Hey,

SMS not working right after transferring from Fizz to Koodo is often due to incomplete port activation or network settings on the device. Try fully restarting the phone and performing a network settings reset to clear old configurations. Also, verify the transfer completed successfully on Koodo’s side. Using the SIM in another phone can help check if the SIM or phone settings cause the issue. If SMS still doesn’t work after these steps and a full day, the issue likely needs rep review or port reactivation.

An update to this.  Two things happened the following morning.

SMS can be received but RCS got stuck in activation.

I don’t know if this was the fix but I put the koodo sim into the Android phone that received RCS message last and it shows RCS messaging work.  Once I disconnect RCS from Android phone, it worked on the iPhone afterwards.

I don’t think any of my friends got any of the RCS I sent using the iPhone until after this fix.

It is all good now.
