I came across my old phone that had broken a couple years ago and I would like to retrieve my old phone number and use it again, how can I get my old phone number back?

You can’t get your old phone number back (unless it’s recent, which doesn’t seem). It’s probably already being used by someone else.
Did you cancel your line at the time? What did you do with the sim card in it when it broke?
Assuming you cancelled the line, you can maybe get away with getting that number back if it’s been under 90 days. You could try to request that specific number by sending a private msg to Koodo via FB Messenger or DM via Twitter or schedule a callback via Koodo Assist, but I find it unlikely that the same number would have stayed in the pool for that long.
