Question

rcs chats not supported

Hi all.  I have a samsung galaxy A54 got it refurbished from Koodo.  When I started using this phone I had rcs chat right up to about two weeks ago.  Now it says not supported by my Sim card info when I go to rcs settings.   Any help would be appreciated to get this working again.  Thanks.

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

Hi there,

Can you send a screen shot of the issue? Please blur out any personal information that may appear as this is a public platform. Also, have you tried any troubleshooting steps yet or no? Jw as that will save some time 🙂

Yes, I have tried different options.  Done some searches and also what Koodo FAQ suggested.

Hmm, odd. In that case, can you try the following if you haven’t already:

1. Making sure the app is up to date, this can be done through the google play store.

2.Simply restarting the device, sounds silly but tends to fix a lot of problems.

3.Try to clear the cache and data of the google messages app through your phone settings, restart the phone, and see if it persists. (This is the most likely to help)

4.Attempt to reset your network settings and see if the issue persists. Note: if you try this saved devices such as Bluetooth and WIFI passwords tend to reset and you may have to add them again.

Tried all this and still the same result..... not supported.  Oh well, will just have to live with the way it is.  Thank you for your help.

Thanks for sharing!

Can you please confirm the last 2 digits of the phone number associated with the phone?

Is the RCS showing as “not supported” on both lines or just one?

All the screenshots sent were from number ending in 98.  The other line ending in 56 is the same..... not supported

I have the exact same issue that started happening a few weeks ago on my s24 ultra.

I also tried updating and reseting everything but sadly it is still saying the same issue with rcs is not supported anymore

Did the issue randomly start occurring or after a phone or app update?

There is an update from Google RCS few days ago that required End to end encryption, it might create some settings issue as carriers need to update.

I would recommend you try to update the app to the latest version and disable RCS and re-enable it again to see if that can help. Using Google message app can also help.

That worked, thank you!! I uninstalled the update and then re-updated the app.

I fixed the issue by doing these steps I found online in a reddit thread.

  1. Airplane Mode On
  2. Long press on messages to bring up menu
  3. Select the little "i" in the upper corner
  4. "Force Stop" the app (located at the very bottom of screen)
  5. Now press on Storage
  6. Clear Cache and Clear Data (located at the very bottom) Don't worry it won't delete your conversations.
  7. Restart phone and turn off airplane mode

Me too. Stop working RCS. Instruction with clear data don't work for me.

@Alina Kozh Did you try what notinicecream suggested? If it’s not clear, you can go to settings, Apps, and then scroll down to Messages instead of doing the long press and “i” button. It’ll take you to the same thing that way.
