Porting out number on Koodo Home Phone

I am trying to port out my number which is currently on Koodo home phone plan to a VoIP provider. I understand that the authorization must be done via SMS. I put the home phone SIM into a mobile phone and was able to receive the SMS message from Koodo. I replied but when I spoke to a Koodo rep, they indicated no reply was received.  I assume that this SIM is unable to send SMS messages due to the home phone plan.

The rep then spoke with the “technical team” and the answer is that it can take up to 2 days, so I needed to wait. Within hours, I received notification from the VoIP provider that the port request was denied by Koodo due to not receiving confirmation from the customer.

Has anyone else found a resolution to this issue?

Thank you.

Hi @JMalloy

We have looked into it and we can see the transfer is currently pending, as it awaits for the response to the 2FA message.

Have you re-initiated in the meantime?

Thank you. I am unsure exactly what you mean.

I received a SMS message from Koodo on Wednesday, Feb 4 at 11:05 am (EST) asking me to approve the port request.

I replied to the text with “Yes” at 11:31 am (EST). I spoke with a Koodo rep at approx. 4:00 pm on the same day and was told that my response was not received.

I have not received any further messages from Koodo.

On Monday Feb 9, I did receive an email from the provider (voip.ms) I am porting the number to and they said “The port has been temporarily rejected. We're awaiting information from you to correct this issue and go on with the port. “

Am I supposed to ask voip.ms to send another request through? If I cannot reply via SMS to Koodo, it will be rejected again.

I look forward to your directions and clarification about what I need to do and why it will be successful.

Thank you
