I have a family member who is currently with another provider and we are looking at switching them to Koodo.  How do we know if their current cell number can be transferred to Koodo?  If it is possible to do how do we go about it?

thank you for that link.  It says the phone number is eligible.  Can I order my plan and have the SIM card mailed to me?  Once received can I remove my existing SIM card and place the new in the phone at which point port the number?

Did you want this family member to be on your account or on their own account?  If they are going to be on their own account later on, they should setup an account on their own as there is a Transfer of ownership fee ($50) if do it later on.

But basically all they have to do it sign up (or you can add a line if part of your account).  When the sim arrives just complete a transfer of ownership (make sure they dont cancel their number they are porting over, it must be active at the time of the port and the act of porting will trigger the cancellation )

I’m a bit confused…

Are you currently with Koodo? If you need/want to upgrade your plan, then you don’t need to order a new SIM.     If you open a new account under your name, you can’t port your current Koodo number onto new account.

If your family member has their own account, then you can use a refer a friend program .

This would be a complete new account for my family member in their name. They are currently with Rodgers and would be switching to Koodo and bringing their current cell number

Then they need to sign up as a new customer with their own information.
