Question

phone number issues

About a week ago I’ve changed my phone number via self serve, everything looked good.

But I’ve been told that whenever someone tries to contact me they’ve been going to someone else.

What am I suppose to do?

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

Have you setup call forwarding in your phone? As well, can you send/receive SMS with the new number normally?

By the way, which phone are you using? have you tried to reset network settings?

I’m currently using an IPhone 12 but will be switching to a Samsung Galaxy S25 tomorrow.

All I’ve done so far has been resetting the phone and changing my number in my contacts.

I can send out messages but I haven’t received anything due to someone else receiving them.

It seems like somehow I’m sharing a phone number with someone else.

I assume you did, but can you check your self-serve to see if the new number showing up everywhere? As well, can you disable and reenable iMessage in your phone to see if that could fix issue with the old number?

I’ve checked self serve and I can’t see an issue there, it all looks correct.

Ive tried disabling and re enabling it didn’t work. But looked deeper and noticed that the new number isn’t showing up in the Sending and Receiving setting for IMessage.

Let me flag a rep to look into it. It might be issue with an incomplete number transfer.

In the mean time, if you have another phone to try, I would recommend you put the SIM card into it to see if it can help.

Hi @The Ryeguy the number transfer seems complete, no errors that we can see. Are the issues with incoming calls or just SMS? When people try to call, do they get your voicemail or are they getting someone else entirely?

@Georgia Koodo  From what I’ve been told is that whenever someone tries to call or send a message to me, it goes to someone else entirely

Did you try to restart your phone after the port transfer? What about deregistering iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone? https://support.apple.com/en-ca/102455

What I've done,

  • Checked Self Serve
  • Checked phone settings
  • Restarted phone a few times post transfer
  • Deregistered IMessage and FaceTime on IPhone

I can send messages out and people are receiving them, but I’m not getting anything.

Does it work when you insert your SIM card into another device?

Have you updated it on your Self-Serve portal? https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/koodo-sim-support

Hi there @The Ryeguy

We’ve looked into your account and refreshed the backend switch. Please restart your device and test it again.

If the issue persists, you’ll need to schedule a callback and speak with the porting team to verify and resolve the problem.

Let us know how it goes!

I’ve restarted my phone and still not receiving any messages.

I will schedule a call back but not sure how that will work if I’m not receiving anything.

Since you are unable to receive any calls, you can send a message to a rep on Facebook Messenger or Twitter. https://m.me/Koodo

Alternatively, you can borrow a phone from a friend or relative and schedule a callback to that number instead.

If you can’t receive incoming calls, we’d recommend using an alternate number if possible to speak to the Tech Support team. You can reach out via social media but they will likely advise you to contact our tech team as well.

Out of curiosity, when they call your old number, do you receive the call?

When you call someone else, what does it show on the caller ID?
