phishing email?

I have received two emails that look very real from Koodo Service.  They claim to be informing me that I have been under billed for my streaming services and in two weeks, I will be charged the correct price - an additional $11. The price noted that I am paying now is shown as more than the plan I am on.  I talked to Koodo when I got the first one and they said there was no indication my account that this change was to happen.  Today I got the second email saying the same thing but that the second email was to correct the first one and show me the correct way to make a change if I did not want the increase to go through.  Since it is after 9 I can’t contact a human at Koodo.  This is becoming a time consuming pain trying to verify these emails.  Has anyone else had this happen?  If so, how many emails did you get before whoever is sending them gives up?

Email spoofing now a days is quite hard as most reputable companies have the proper protections in place to prevent it.
In the case of @mail-ing.koodomobile.com you ignore anything that comes before the . as that is the subdomain and look at the last part koodomobile.com which is Koodo’s website therefore it is a legitimate email.

Now in saying that, it doesn’t hurt to always exhibit caution with this stuff. As Darius said though, it appears that the emails did indeed come from Koodo so you can follow the instructions in them. I’ve personally had Stream+ for a couple years now and haven’t received anything from them so hopefully you as well don’t get anything else.

You can always verify if the email is legit by checking the domain of the email address as well as cross checking info with your self serve account.

What email address did it come from?

Hi there @Questioner  We verified the account and there were 2 emails received from us. The first one is in regards to the undercharge of the Netflix Service and the 2’nd one was with the instruction on how to change the Netflix plan, in order to continue with the same pricing.

The price noted in the first email is the one before any discounts.

not appreciating the “Go have a look!” In your email.

i did have a look and saw nothing in my account to indicate any changes.

So, to be sure,  I arranged a callback from a Koodo human after receiving the first one and he told me there was no record of any such email and the price I always have been paying will continue at the same rate.  What part of Koodo am I to believe?

I expanded the Koodoservice and the full address was koodoservice@mail-ing.koodomobile.com

When I got a Koodo human the guy said he checked and no email was sent out.  Now they have emailed twice and in this form I was told to “Go look!”  Guess we are just to mime through pages on the net and not trust in humans.☹️

Hi there @Questioner  Multiple users were affected by this, we will include the main post here:

The email will have the following information. Keep in mind that it might be different for other users, depending on the package that they have.

The email does not include any links and it does not require additional information. It provides information about the situation and gives you the available options. The sender email does not have a “ - “ in it and it would show as : koodoservice@mailing.koodomobile.com and it is a no reply email.
