Question

My phone can't make outbound calls anymore

The data works, text messages work, just calls don’t work.

Troubleshooting steps tried.

-Restarting phone

-Reinserting the sim card

-No the phone is not in airplane mode

Issue persist, I cannot even reach the voicemail.

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

Hi there,

What kind of phone are you using? are you a pospaid or prepaid koodo customer?

Also, are you on a plan with a limited amount of call time or is it unlimited?

I am using a Nokia 7.2, I pay monthly so I assume this means postpaid, I have unlimited calls.

Hi @Frigid

We have looked into it and this model is not on Koodo's Volte supported list: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/volte so this seems to be the reason why calls may not work properly.

You can check also if your phone is eligible here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/volte https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/phone-compatibility

Is your VoLTE enabled?

Networks are starting to sunset 3G signals in certain areas and moving them over to 4G LTE.

If you were using 3G for calls previously, it would mean that calls will no longer work if your phone is unable to use VoLTE

Koodo uses a range of bands/frequencies for their networks and towers.  Koodo is not officially shutting down 3G completely (only 1 band is impacted in certain areas only).  However if your phone is compatible for only 1 of the two 3G bands then you may be impacted.

Yes, this was sent out to affected customers last year. You may want to consider upgrading your device that is compatible with the network. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/explaining-koodos-3g-usage-price-increase

I’m having a similar problem but incoming/outgoing texts and calls aren’t going through.

I’m using an LG G7 ONE and according to the settings, it is compatible with voLTE because it’s turned on.

Model - LM-Q910UM

IMEI - 35843*********

Android version - 11

@Frigid You could try the Shizuku + IMS option to get VoLTE accepted, but Koodo/TElus have whitelists for it. Honestly, I’m surprised that it hasn’t affected non-listed models simultaneously.

@prism1969 You have a listed device, so this shouldn’t be an issue. Have you tried restarting your phone, reinserting your sim card, seeing if it works in another device to see if the problem follows? Etc?

@Goran - I turn my phone off every day when I charge it.  And even after several restarts sometimes I still don’t get phone calls or texts.  I tried opening the sim slot but it won’t open, and I don’t want to push too hard with the pin.  There’s a Koodo store near me so I’ll stop in there tomorrow and see if they can help me.  Thank you for the quick reply and suggestions though 🙂

If you cant even open your sim slot then that might be the source of your issues.

If you get that sim slow open, I would test that sim in another phone and see if the issue follows the sim.
