lost phone outside Canada. i purchased a local sim & phone number ending with the same last 4 digits as that of my koodo number. can koodo activate my phone number onto this local sim? or, do i need an e-sim from koodo paying the ridiculous amount?

Also, my current device is Samsung a8. I don't think it supports an esim. Is that true?

No, Koodo can only activate a SIM card from their own. That was the practice of all carriers in Canada.

As well, your phone a8 didn’t support esim. You would need to find a way to get a Koodo physical sim and activate it with the help of a rep. You can ask your friend or your family in Canada to send you a Koodo sim as well. make sure it is a new sim before you activate it.

I believe you already done it, but want you to make sure you suspend your service until you get a Koodo SIM again.  It will prevent some unwanted charges if someone found your phone and used your data and/ or long distance...etc.

Suspending service doesn't stop your service charge,  but it will keep your account and you don't get extra charge used by someone else.

When you say you got a local sim, do you mean a non-koodo sim?
