Koodo email and text marketing ignores my currect plan?

Hello Koodo Community,

A. Koodo email marketing and text marketing consistently ignore my existing plan.

For example I currently have a Cda-US plan.

  • When I arrived in the US I rcd multiple msgs advising me about EasyRoam: the benefits of and the penalties of not adopting.
  • Also, after I adopted the Cda-US plan I rcd multiple msgs advising me about a mobile phone upgrade offer which included a Cda-US plan with lower capacities than the Cda-US plan I adopted.

B. Is anyone else experiencing Koodo marketing messaging which ignores your existing plan?

Koodo’s approach to ignore my existing plan creates confusion.

  • My first reaction is to check my existing plan because Koodo has created doubt I have that plan.
  • My second reaction is to question why Koodo would offer me a downgrade to my Canada-US plan.

The mis-messaging is costing me time and $.

C. This approach is unsophisticated and entry level incompetent.

The solution is a quick existing plans database scan then suppress the email and text marketing messaging to Cda-US plan holders, for example.

Yes I can opt out of email and text marketing messaging and then will not receive messages that are correctly targeted at me.

Your thoughts are invited and welcome.

Thank you.

Yeah, that’s frustrating. Koodo’s marketing automation doesn’t currently filter based on your active plan; it’s a known gap. You’re getting generic campaigns that ignore what you already have.

I can flag a rep to note your account so they can manually suppress irrelevant offers (if possible).

This is normal for when you first connect to a US tower.  It is a standard message for everyone.

Again this is normal as marketing targeting is not the most precise.  For this one, I agree they should refine the audience for the messaging a bit more.  I dont know about you but I get very few (if any) marketing messages.  You can always opt out of marketing messages if you choose, especially if it is costing a measurable amount of time and $.

I’m not sure if incompetent is the right word.  Either Koodo is unable to narrow down the targeting with their marketing tool or they are too lazy to do it.

But you have now double checked your plan and are very aware of what your plan consists of.  I personally would ignore the non-applicable messages if you still want to opt in to marketing messages as not to miss any ones that may apply to you.
