Question

Issue with calling

I am unable to make or receive calls from my Koodo number. My internet is working fine, and I have a signal, but when I try to call someone, there is no response, and the same issue occurs when others try to call me.

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

So the reason I found is Koodo recently upgraded its network to VoLTE, but my phone does support VoLTE — I use my other SIM card on VoLTE without any issues. However, I don't see an option to enable VoLTE for my Koodo SIM. What could be the reason?

What is the other sim that works?  Is it Koodo?

What phone are you using?

No, the other SIM is from another country, running on international roaming and using Bell’s network.

My phone is not supported by Koodo for VoLTE calling, and I don’t think they will add it, even though they technically could without any issues.

I think I need to switch from Koodo to another provider, like Bell.

If you wish to keep your phone, you’ll have to find a carrier that doesn’t have a whitelist for VOLTE support. Which phone model do you have, out of curiosity?

Did voice work previously?  Or this was your first attempt at using Koodo?

Koodo also has numerous devices that are available with VoLTE that will work.  I recommend checking them out.

It used to work with Koodo before they upgraded their network from 3G to VoLTE.

What town or city are you in?

Koodo is not completely phasing out 3G just yet, only 1 of the bands are being repurposed to 4G

I have read that Telus has removed its whitelist a few months ago, but it’s not entirely 100% across any device. I haven’t found any updates for Koodo, other than that Koodo is currently using Telus’s IMEI checker to confirm if VoLTE will work. The Koodo site still maintains a list of compatible phones for VoLTE, including IMEI ranges.

I know it used to have a hyperlink to Telus’s checker, but it doesn’t seem to have it anymore, or I missed where it is. You could try it, and if it greenlights your model, you could try scheduling a callback to speak with tech support about it, and if they can’t or won’t do something on it, then you may well have to pick a carrier that will support the phone that you use.

I have already checked, and it specifically says that my phone is not compatible:

‘Your phone is not compatible. This phone will not work on the TELUS VoLTE network.’
