I have a Pixel 10 with a Koodo Plan.  How do I get an eSIM for Japan?

Do you want to use a travel esim?

If so you just need to find the provider your want and follow their instructions on how to activate their sim. Their website should give plenty of information.

An alternative option is to use the Koodo easy roam travel pass as Japan was recently added to the asia travel passes.

So, Koodo doesn’t sell eSIMs?  It would need to come from a 3rd party?

An esim is just an electronic sim card.

Koodo has esims for their postpaid and prepaid service along with physical sims.

What are you asking for specifically? I assume you are asking for a plan?

Are you a koodo customer currently?

I'm leaving for Japan in a week so I have done a lot Of research already but I need to know what you are looking for.

You want to buy a SIM card that can be used in Japan, right? You can buy an eSIM here in advance and pick it up at the airport or hotel in Japan, or you can buy an eSIM at the airport. The price varies depending on the number of days and the amount of data you want.

I just need to be able to data while I’m in Japan.  I’m there from Mar 6th to 22nd.  Also, I have a long layover in South Korea, would I be able to get data there too on the same eSIM or would I have to get a different one for South Korea?

The Koodo travel pass covers Japan and SOuth Korea so you can use your data in those countries just like you use your data in canada

https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/europe-easy-roam-travel-passes

The only issue is that the travel pass is only for 14 days and you need one for 17 days.

Depending on how much data you need I suggest checking out MobiMatter

Koodo can sell eSIM but only for their service when you are roaming in Japan with Koodo. You can add an Asia travel pass if you would like to https://www.koodomobile.com/en/services/easyroam?

If you are looking for a local data only plan while traveling, you have to buy from somewhere else. Either only or when you land.

Hi @VictoriaJapan, if you’d like to use your Koodo services while abroad, you may be interested in our 14-day Asia Travel Pass as it covers both South Korea and Japan. You can find more information on the pass here

Thanks Georgia, but I would need service for the whole time I’m there, and if the 14 day is already $70, the additional days will be too expensive.

Dennis, I think I’ll have to go with Saily, it has 30 days for only $23.00 for 10 GB.

Note that the Sally one for $23 for 10GB is only for 1 country.

Yeah, you’re right I’ll have to figure out what to do in South Korea.  I’m only there for my layovers but they are to and from Japan and they are over 2 weeks apart.

I would suggest looking looking at Regional or multi country roaming sims.  Sally has them.  As does my links for Mobi and Maya.

Something to consider if the cost is worth the convenience

I found China, Korea and Japan for 30 days for $16.50 for 12 GB.  Is Mobi reliable?  can I order in advance and it will automatically kick in when I land in either country?

I dont have experience with Mobi yet.  I plan to use it in Japan next week.

The only experience I have is with Maya when I set it up for my mother in law.  It worked great in Vietnam, South Korea, and Australia.  It was an unlimited plan.

For Mobi, I highly suggest you read the plan details and FAQs they have .  For my esim they send a QR code for me to scan and the plan becomes active when I arrive in Japan and connect to the network.  I have 2 months to use the plan.

Your multi country plan may have different requirements
