I’m attempting to sign up for ChatGPT and during the process, it asks for my phone number.

This is the response I get “It looks like this phone number is a landline. Please provide a valid, non-landline phone number to continue.”

Has anyone else encountered this?

Did you port your number from another service? Can't say I've personally had this issue. It's conceivable someone ported a landline number to mobile, let it go, and you got it allocated. I honestly have no idea if it goes back to being a landline is it's cancelled or what. Do you have any other numbers you can try?

Hi Goran,

Thanks for your response.

Many, many years ago, I got my cell phone number assigned to me at a “PC Mobile” kiosk when I signed up for a plan and bought a phone. Then, after quite some time, I moved over to Koodo where I’ve been ever since. The only thing that’s changed since then (other than phone upgrades where I’ve simply physically moved the SIM card) has been Koodo moving my account from their old ‘legacy’ platform to their current ‘Self Serve’ online platform.

How do I go about having Koodo make sure my account/number is set up properly?

Thanks in advance for your next response. Much appreciated.

Glen

Chat GPT has no access to any information about your Koodo account so any changes on Koodo’s end won’t do you any good here.

If it’s saying that it’s a landline then they likely just have something wrong with the way that they are filtering the phone numbers. I would reach out to them for the fix as they need to update their filters to allow your number.

Thank you Allan. I’ll see where that takes me.
