I turned on Call Control to block all the spam calls and that works great, but despite having the number on my approved numbers list, the system still gives a busy signal and won’t allow people trying to contact me through the phone-based intercom system my building uses.

They buzz the intercom downstairs, but the calls are still refused. I can’t use the service if it’s going to do that.

Is there anything that can be done here?

Intercom system are all different and function differently.

If it doesnt work then callcontrol might not be usable for you.

When call control is off, does the intercom system work?

Absolutely it does. But this is a pain for me, since my only other option is to keep getting bothered by spammy robotcalls and blocked numbers still leaving me voicemails.

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of your intercom system

That is a mighty PITA.

Call control is a double edged sword. It does not always work as advertised. It is not only a problem with intercoms, but with all kinds of call backs. For example I receivbe callbacks from an airline when I don’t want to be on hold. But it is an automated system that calls back (before you get to talk to a person), nobody there to press buttons. So with Call Control, that will fail as well.

Some doctor’s offices get so many no-shows that they now have automated calls, reminding patients of appointments. If you don’t confirm, your appointment will be cancellled. With call control, you will never get the call and only find out about your cancelled appointment when you show up. I also hear of some school districts fielding automated calls to parents.

That's what call control is.

It is suppose to stop robo calls and needs human intervention to press a button to prove that you are human.

So it is technically doing what it is designed to do.
