Over the last several years, Black Friday at Koodo (or in the industry) has been the biggest and busiest sales weekend of the year.  Expect the best deals for plans and phones and especially “Evolving” deals when every player tries to out do and/or match each other’s offers.

  • Because of these evolving deals, please give your Koodo sales rep some slack as these changes may happen faster than the rep can be updated
  • Stores/kiosks will be busy and a bit chaotic, so expect long line-ups.  If you only have 15minutes to pop into a store for something, this is not the weekend for this.
    • If you just have any question unrelated to Black Friday, this is not the weekend for this.  This includes other personalized promos, phone questions, etc.  Sales reps rely on commissions.  This is how they make their living.  This is not the weekend for anything not related to Black Friday
    • Do your research, know what you want, get it and move along quickly.  It will be a fairly busy.  Don’t be that person that will take up extra time still deciding what to get when you reach the front of the line.
    • If you have a simple Black Friday question (or clarification) or inventory inquiry (for that location only), and you do not want to wait hours in line, I suggest politely asking this when the rep has some down time when they are waiting for the “system” to load
    • Speaking of systems, the past few years have see the system slow to a crawl to process signups or plan changes.  And in some cases the system has gone down completely for hours.  Don’t be surprised when this happens.
  • If you are moving your service to Koodo, do not port your number over at the store.  You can do this at home.  I recommend doing this during off hours or after the weekend when the system is not so busy with everyone else porting at the same time
  • Reminder that sales reps are only human.  In some cases they may be fairly new hires for the holiday season.  This may mean that they may misunderstand or miscommunicate or even misinterpret a feature or how something may work.
    • Make sure you do your research before hand
    • If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is a misinterpretation
    • Review the contract.  If it is not noted in the contract, or clearly stated in writing somewhere, make sure it is written down on the contract.  Or if it is in a poster or screen at the store, take photos or videos of proof of what was promised.
  • Note that unless a plan is purchased with a Tab contract, the plan price is NOT guaranteed.  Without a tab, any wireless provider is legally allowed to raise the price with 30 days notice, and this has been a practice that has recently become popular among carriers.
  • Have a back up plan incase the phone you want is unavailable or the plan is not as you expected
    • The sales reps also do not make the plans or the rules.  There is no point arguing or negotiating with them.  You are not buying a car.
    • Because it is Black Friday, stock level will fluctuate rapidly.  Do not expect stores to call around to find you inventory, hold inventory, or even have inventory delivered from another store.
  • Don’t bother calling the store.  The sales reps will be busy with customers.

  • Use the Koodo callback system for urgent issue only.  For example, your service is not working.
    • For any non-related Black Friday questions (or even Black Friday related questions), use the Koodo community first
    • If it is a question that requires a callback but is not urgent, save them for after the Black Friday weekend.  Or better yet, save them for a week after Black Friday.   Only schedule call backs for real urgent issues.  Minor billing issues are not considered an urgent issue; shipping and inventory complaints are not urgent issues.  If you request a callback for non-urgent issues, you are only asking for punishment.
