Bought a phone during Black Friday. Will there be any issues if I don't activate it until December 25? (It's a surprise Christmas present for someone).

The phone will be for my wife. My wife and I have active lines with Koodo. My gift for her (which I bought during Black Friday) has already arrived, but I want to keep it a secret until Christmas Day. Will it be okay if I keep the new phone “inactive” until then?
+4Oh I see now, yes, absolutely! When it’s time to surprise her, all she needs to do is switch over the SIM card to the new phone.
+4One note tho. Even if you want to keep this device "inactive", they starts charging service and Tab as soon as Koodo shipped the phone.
EDIT : Ii missed you mentioned " My wife and I have active lines with Koodo.". So, never mind my comment.
