I am outside Canada at the moment. Is there a way to activate roaming?

You can activate roaming right now, even while you're away!

The easiest way is to text ROAM to 7626. It's free to text from anywhere, and you'll get a response in about 30 seconds. Just follow the prompts to set it up. Usually, you receive a message once you connected to a partner’s cellular network. Have you not received it?

You'll need to decide which roaming add-on works for you:

  • Easy Roam U.S. ($16/day) if you're in the States
  • Easy Roam International ($18/day) if you're elsewhere

You'll only be charged on days you actually use your phone (calls, texts, or data). Once activated, it covers your plan's minutes, texts, and data until 11:59 pm in your timezone.

Also make sure data roaming is toggled ON in your phone's settings (Settings > Network and Internet > Mobile Networks > Roaming).

Each phone number on your account needs to add Easy Roam separately, so if you have multiple lines, you'll need to text 7626 for each one.

Are you a prepaid or postpaid customer? Note that prepaid customer can only roam in US.

If you are a postpaid customer, you can’t send SMS to the shortcode in most cases due to no signal and foreign network. You have to go into self-serve and add easyroam there. Follow this link https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/easy-roam?

I pay month to month as I did BYOP. Is that considered still postpaid?

If you are on a postpaid plan, you should be able to add Easy Roam on your Self-Serve account by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Self Serve
  2. From the Self Serve dropdown menu, select Mobile services
  3. On the Mobile services page, select Travel with Easy Roam
  4. On the Easy Roam page, select the Add Easy Roam button (once you have the Easy Roam add-on on your account, it'll say "Easy Roam active")
  5. Go to the Manage add-ons section and ensure you have the following add-ons as well: International Voice Roaming and International Data Roaming
  6. You're good to go! You can now use your Koodo phone while travelling abroad. You’ll get a text message once you’ve landed in your destination confirming that Easy Roam is now active.

Did you try teting “ROAM” to 7626 if you’re having issues within self-serve?

You need easyroam add-on to enable roaming provision at the backend. The US-CAN roaming plan basically just makes all your US roaming fee become zero.

Let me flag a rep to add the easyroam for you.

Hi @Dol, your line is currently on the Seasonal Hold plan, meaning you will have no service abroad or in Canada until you return to an active plan. You can find more information on how it works here. Please note, you can only activate the Seasonal Hold once in a 12 month period.

Adding Easy Roam International will not reactivate your service, you will still have no cellular connection. Would you still like to add it in this case?

Hello,
If I deactivate my seasonal hold,  then add Easy roam international. Would I have cellular connection while outside Canada?

If you deactivate your Seasonal Hold, then add Easy Roam International, you should get cellular service abroad and be able to roam normally. Seasonal Hold suspends all service, so turning it off reactivates your line; adding Easy Roam after that lets you use roaming outside Canada. Just make sure you add Easy Roam through Self Serve (since texting 7626 won’t work without service) and turn on data roaming on your phone. Without deactivating Seasonal Hold, roaming won’t connect at all, even with Easy Roam added.
