You received a new device, you also received a new SIM card and you are wondering if you need to use it. Great news! If your old SIM fits, all you have to do is pop your old SIM card into your new phone - your phone number and your plan will both be active on your new phone. (Your text messages are not stored on your SIM and will not be transferred from your old phone.)

Your old SIM card doesn’t fit into your new phone’s SIM card slot?

No problem! You’ll need to replace your old SIM with one of the three card sizes in the Tri SIM card that you’ve received with your order.

The LTE Koodo Tri SIM card offers Standard, Micro, and Nano sizes to give you the convenience of 3 sizes all in 1 handy card. Once you’ve determined which size will fit your new phone, simply push out the large white card (Standard), the medium multi-colored card (Mirco), or the small white card (Nano) and log into your Self Serve account to swap your old SIM with the new one we sent you.

The old sim card typically should work fine, have you tried to reset network settings after plan change. Also which phone are you using?

Samsung S20 FE 5G.

I reset it but it doesn't work, so it seems to me sim card should be replaced with new one.

Is 5G available in your area? It isnt necessarily available everywhere. You can check here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/network

Also, make sure in your network selection settings that you change it from LTE preffered to 5G preferred. Otherwise, it wont connect to 5G.

I already checked and it is available. And Koodo tech also recommended replacing new sim card. I just wonder how to get new one?

You can get a new one either through self serve and have it delivered, or you can go to your closest koodo kiosk and Telus store and pickup a replacement. They're commonly $10 plus tax. 🙂👍

Thats ok, this can be found under "Mobile services" when you hit the tab in the top right, then scroll down and select "get help with sim cards and esims". You will then be presented a list of options, the bottom one will be to request a new sim. 👍

Hi @spark8

Just to top up on this, it is not guaranteed that a new sim would allow 5G on your Samsung S20 FE phone. This is an older thread regarding the limitations, and there is unfortunately no update from Samsung in this regard.
