Since I changed my plan in November to one with the roll-over perk, Koodo has sent me text notifications in the middle of the night regarding the amount of data they are rolling over.

Dec: text msg rec’d 1:37 am

Jan: text msg rec’d 2:03 am

Feb: text msg rec’d 1:33 am

Mar: text msg rec’d 12:47 am

It is very annoying for my husband and myself to be woken up to these texts that could be sent the following day as it is not urgent information.

My husband on pre-paid also receives information texts in the middle of the night.

I am sure thousands of customers are also being woken up in the middle of the night.

Unless it is an emergency, Koodo should send information texts in the daytime only.

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

This doesn’t seem right! I’ll flag this to the team responsible for the notifications. Hopefully, it’s an easy fix.

In the meantime, you might want to explore your Do Not Disturb settings. From there, you should be able to limit which notifications you receive during the times of your choosing.

Do not disturb might works for some apps.

But what Lou asking is about Text message from Koodo.

I can't use "do not disturb" function on " Text" since I have elderly parents.

Maybe some people have sick family members, teen kids going out night time,  or family members in different countries and need to receive any emergency texts anytime.

So, non-emergency night time texts are not ideals.

Right, we have been asking for this feature for a long time - I too have an elderly mom and can’t use DND every night because her caregivers need to be able to contact me too.

I would really really appreciate if Koodo could schedule the messages during office hours - since they are automatic anyway it shouldn’t be hard to implement.

Did anyone fix this yet?  I’ve registered complaints.  3:29AM Last night ...

I’ve flagged a rep for a follow-up, if any.

I seem to have forgotten how proposal threads work. I’ll ask a rep for any follow-up.

My times are :

2:23am, 1:43am, 2:57am, 2:13am and the most recent, 3:29am.

The most recent one, 3:29 am.  Even people who stay up late or get up early aren't awake at that time.  Why can't they just text me during business hours?

I asked about it just now… KiKinda got caught up. Well seee soon hopefully. But also there's no need to open a second thread. This one remains sufficient and it keeps conversations from being split

In the meantime for a fix, most phones have an option that allows you to hide the alerts from a single number.

That way you can mute the number that Koodo sends the text updates from but keep everything else on as you please.

If you hide the alerts from this number you also hide the alerts for data usage warnings as they come through on the same number.

It seems pretty simple to me, Koodo just shouldn’t be sending monthly notifications at 3am?

I don’t disagree with you!

Just trying to help you/others find a temporary solution to maintain the annoyance while the issue is looked into, hence why I said “in the meantime”😊

If you’re having data rolled over each month I don’t imagine the usage warnings are super pertinent to see right away either so hiding alerts will stop the early morning wakeups at least. That’s all!

Yes I agree it can temporarily help some people.  But I got my 50gb data plan so I could cancel the landline internet at my cottage.  I don't use my cottage 6 months of the year (winter).  I'm going to be using it for the next 6 months, and will need to know how much data were burning while we're there.

Literally nobody in the programming department has been made aware of this yet despite "Chris Koodo" saying he'd get it to the right department.  An automated texting system already needs date and time parameters to function.  All they need to do is adjust the time parameters.  Just get someone in the right department to see this and they'll have it fixed by the end of the day.

@Chris Michels we’ve been lobbying for this to happen for years. The simple and sad truth is that it just doesn’t seem “important” enough to implement, no matter how simple (which I can’t judge because these things are never as simple as they look). However the more people who, like yourself, voice that wish, the more likely it’ll be that some day, Koodo may dedicate some resources to actually implement this.

As an example, there has been a long standing bug of not being able to chance your number after you port a number in. Koodo stated that since it was such a niche issue (because obviously people who port in their number are people who want to KEEP that number), they wouldn’t give that high priority. However today I noticed that it IS fixed at last.

So this too may take a while, but don’t give up hope altogether :)

FWIW you can use your phone’s data usage tracker built-in to see how your usage is. It’d be much more precise than the 50/75/100% of the shock-free data as you can see realtime usage throughout the month and set a warning any amount you want.

Family plan.  My phone only tracks my use and unfortunately I'm not worried about me going over the data cap haha, I'll be outside, it's everyone else.

Thanks again Koodo for waking us up at 1:03 am to tell me about my roll over data. While my husband is snoring away already, I am wide awake and pissed.

Have you looked into the option of settings of turning do not disturb every night? Koodo seems not to be the only company sending sms in the morning. RBC sent messages to me every two week at 2-3am when my employer deposited money. Sometimes I got spam call at those time also.

I have this same issue.  I only get the texts in the middle of the night.  I’ve already complained about it directly to a chat support worker, and they just shrugged their shoulders and said, “It’s automated, so we can’t change it.”  That’s unacceptable.  And I shouldn’t have to put my phone on “do not disturb” because I have family members with severe medical emergencies who may need to reach me.  Koodo needs to stop passing the buck and fix this issue ASAP!

Hey Koodo, I know you don't care about us, otherwise you would have changed it by now, but just letting you know it happens to me too in the middle of the night.

I already knew Koodo's customer service was bad (not having a number we can call directly is a good indication) but come kn guys, all you have to do is change a timestamp. Someone is extremely lazy. Maybe disciplinary action should be taken in whatever department looks after these problems

PSA for everyone who has an Android phone and is experiencing this, but still needs to receive texts from specific people.

Go to "settings" and to "notifications", and then "do not disturb". Scroll to "Allowed during Do not disturb", there you modify who is allowed to contact you while in DND mode. I have my DND set to come on at bedtime and turn off automatically around the time I get up in the morning.

Unfortunately I'm not aware if this option is also available for iPhone users.
