Specifiy a Time Zone for callbacks

Please teach your bot to specify a timezone for callbacks. It is so confusing.

Example:

I have a temporary number assigned, that I want to replace with a port-in number. Self serve tells me that I need to talk to a Koodo representative, but they are not available now, so I have to arrange for a callback. But I can’t be reached at the temporary number, only at a third number which is from a different timezone. My laptop is set to a European time zone for work reasons.

The bot offers me 3 PM. Is that European time, the timezone related to the area code of the number they are calling me at, one of the three time zones connected to the area code for my current Koodo number, or one of the three timezones for the area code of the number I want to port in?

It really isn’t difficult to specify the time zone. Or add the delta, for example, “3PM, that is in 12 hours from now” or something like that.

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

The time the message from the bot is sent is shown below each message and it should be relative to that. It should always use your system time, it doesn’t go into what area code/number you’re calling from.

You would think. Today, I had two callbacks scheduled (2 different departments). One for noon and one for 3 pm.

They called me at 7:19 am and 12:52 pm. There is no reason or rhyme to this. They just make it plane and clear by stating a time zone or a time difference (how many hours from now).

That should have read: They should just make it plain and clear by stating a time zone or a time difference (how many hours from now).

Some places have more than one timezone.

For example, Labrador is officially (by law) on Newfoundland Time, but in reality, significant parts of Labrador follow Atlantic Time.

Similarly, Atlin, BC, is officially in the Pacific Time Zone. But many people there follow Yukon Time, which is Mountain Standard Time all year round. The cell tower in Atlin also sends a Yukon Time time signal (Yes, there is coverage, the Koodo network map is outdated.) But the RCMP and BC Services follow Pacific Time, because that is what the law prescribes in that part of BC. The local First Nation follows Yukon Time (because it makes more sense than Pacific Time, as the only road to Atlin goes to/from the Yukon).

So for half the year, time is unclear. People who arrange a meeting in Atlin, BC, have to specific the timezone.

Now imagine asking for a callback from Koodo… Why can’t the Koodo bot specify the time zone?
