Wrong Tax charges in the Bill

Hello,

I recently moved to Calgary from Toronto. I changed my Sim card with a local store here in Calgary with my Alberta ID. In my bill I am still charged with Ontario HST 13%. I have kept my Toronto number.  I should be paying GST and not HST. Why tax amount is based on the area code? I no longer live there in Toronto and I have updated my address with Koodo too. I do not understand the reason behind this. You can not keep your number if you change the provinces. Is changing the number the only solution left with me?

Right, the tax that you pay is tied to the number itself, not the home address that is mentioned in the account. Otherwise Alberta would have a LOT of people with a home address there :joy:

So if you want to pay Alberta taxes (who wouldn’t) you’ll need to change your number to a local one.
