My tab balance is -0.45, I want to upgrade my phone. I go to pay off balance and they want me to pay 36 which is my tab payment. I am wondering what happens to the left over money. Does it go towards my remaining balance of my upgrade?

Ah I see what you are talking about now.
The $0.45 is the tab bonus. This is different from the Tab. You still have a $36 tab balance as noted at the top of that page,

+4So, if you want to upgrade your phone now, then you need to pay off your tab balance of $36 and pay back bonus of $0.45. Total if $36.45 will be added to your next bill.
