Roaming prices need to be reduced.

Given the price of third party sims/esims available for international roaming, Koodo should really find a way to reduce the roaming charges on their service. I travel out of  country at least once a year for 3 weeks at a time. $15/day is completely unreasonable to try to stay in touch with people. It would be nice to be able to keep things seamless when traveling, and not have need for using third party sims, but it's just not with the price.  Just my $0.02 worth. 😉  Thanks!

More and more providers are offering us/can plans or even us/can/mx with a gratuitous international roaming addon. I have this sneaky suspicion that the coming Black Friday price wars might give you what you want. Just guessing of course, I don't have a crystal ball either 😁

Time to revisit this one Koodo.  Freedom Mobile has some awesome offers at the moment, with plans including international roaming to 120+ countries for similar to what I’m paying now just for Canada coverage.  Let’s gooooo!  😁

Bon voyage! the math makes sense if you are a frequent traveler and only use 1GB of data while roaming.

I think this is just a touch more than 1GB of data? They have other plans as well.

Have you seen Koodo’s Travel Passes yet?
Definitely no Freedom plan but a solid option to avoid using a travel sim at least.

I agree, I would say the travel passes were definitely a step in the right direction especially since they’re adding more countries as time passes.

It is a bummer however that since your original post, the cost actually increased it is now $16 per day for the USA and $18 per month for international roaming 😅

I was looking at the $30 plan, thought it was the one you mentioned. Yes, if seems to be a good deal for frequent traveller

Yup. I have used the Travel Passes. Still very expensive considering.  I have no troubles using a travel esim though.  They are cheaper and can be used for a variety of countries within a region fairly cheaply, and easily.

I often recommend just getting a local esim card through any manner of third party roaming app services now available. For shorter times, it can be convenient to stick with easy roam, but at the price points, my tolerance for using it isn’t high.

Quite a few world elite level mastercards and visas also offer free 1-3GB esims for typically 7-15 days. It’s worth checking into if you have such a credit card.

Yes, I have used one that was available through my credit card, but I believe it was a one time option. I'll check it out for sure. I find regional esims like those offered by Airalo to be best. I can go to 3-4 countries without having to change anything. Much more convenient, and much cheaper than Koodo's travel passes. Thanks all for the info. I'm just saying Koodo should try to stay more competitive in their pricing. I've been a looong time customer, and I typically like to stick with a company I'm happy with. However, the bottom line is everything in today's economy. 😉

I think for now Koodo is doing somewhat lower pricing with the travel passes and betting ok convenience and ignorance to get people willing to pay so much more.
