My daughter bought a phone with a tab, but doesn’t want a monthly charge, she just wants to pay the tab in full - can she do this right away with no penalties?

I thought I read somewhere that you have to make three tab payments before paying the balance…?

Absolutely. Just login to selfserv and pay tab balance. if it gives you the option to pay then it means there is no wait time...

To pay off the tab balance, you can try to do it yourself in selfservice.

However, there was't any benefit of doing so, there was still another "phone credit" that would stay for 24 month period.

Even if there is a “phone credit” it stays in the background. Not shown on the bill. I think @LBou doesn’t want to see the Monthly Tab charges.

Well, the OP actually lost the benefit of having an interest free amount spreading over 24 month period if he/she paid now. I didn't think the missing of monthly amount of the tab as a “benefit” though. It might be something you would like only.

Provided your daughter is not cancelling, upgrading or changing to an ineligible rate plan before the 24-month term ends, your daughter should be able to pay the Tab balance in full. It makes sense for some customers to pay the Tab balance near the end of the 24-month term as this results in a lesser Tab balance amount versus paying the Tab balance in full at the sixth-month mark, for example.

Not sure what you are trying to say. But okay.

My daughter, who is 15, doesn’t want a monthly payment...she has the cash to pay it and that’s what she wants to do...it’s not a benefit to her like it might be for you.

I want to know if there is a penalty for paying it off early…  Can you answer that topic, while staying on topic?

Yes, @Toronto_koodo mentioned above that you can pay it off with no penalty.

Self serve may make you wait 90 days but if it lets you do it, then you’re good.

And then as well, the tab bonus still invisibly will decrease over a 24 month period in the background. So long as you don’t get a new phone, cancel, or change to an ineligible plan before the 24 period, you won’t have to pay that part.
