I recently travelled to the Domincan Republic with my child, he thought that he had turned off data roaming but was mistaken.  We have now been hit with a $600+ bill for for text messages sent.  Is there any way to rectify this?  We were gone for 6 DAYS!!

Hi there @CindyLL

From what can be verified, the charges are valid. If you want to further investigate, feel free to schedule a callback through the Koodo Assist or send us a private message over Social Media through the links at the bottom right of this page.

Valid or not, that is ridiculous!!

To avoid this from happening again, make sure to entirely remove your SIM card from the device, so that you would not be subject to roaming fees.

Just an FYI, even if data roaming was turned off, this would not have stopped the roaming charges for texting.

If it was data the wireless code has a cap on the data roaming charges of $100
