my sordid koodo experiences

i switched from rogers to koodo about 3 years ago after I moved to a fairly remote location on the bruce penninsula. The rogers service was untenable on my iphone and my wife had better (though still real spotty )  results on koodo with her android phone. Unfortunately in the first few months it was apparent my new koodo service was rife with lost calls no signal ect . As a result I was forced to purchase and install a cell repeater and mini tower at my expence to get reliable reception. Around the same time I noted koodo charged the monthly bill to my credit card . I contacted them and let them know the card info was given to be used  as a deposit only and I never agreed to it being used for the monthly charges. Around the same timeline I stopped getting bills from koodo but continued paying the monthly fee. around 6 mos ago I noted a rapid uptick in telemarketing as well as scam calls..i ve had the same number for at least 15 years and never had this problem. Getting totally fed up with these calls I opted to alternetly ignore calls from unknown sources or answer and let them know my severe distaste for the unsolicited interruptions. A few months back I received a call from telus a company I had no ( known ) dealings with advising me I owed around $200 to koodo . Thinking it was yet another scam call since I was paying the monthly amount , haven t received a bill in years and call display didn t show koodo I lost it on the caller and advised them koodo had my email and cr card info for account issues so they could  take a hike and never call me again. I did a few weeks later visit my koodo account online and found I did indeed somehow have unknown arrears and promptly paid it wondering why I never was never notified (excluding a call from a then unknown to me company ) and where the arrears came from .  I have since noticed that koodo reported 2 late -missed payments on my credit rating. Since I can t pay a bill I have no knowlelge of I find this extremely unjust. After a 48 yr career as lic car , heavy truck and marine mechanic i have retired early for health reasons and am currently wheelchair bound pending further surgery. My credit rating is (or at least was ) v good to excellent , my hose is mortgage free and I have never had a late or missed pmnt om my credit so I m fairly confident I know how to pay my bills. All this begs these questions , why can t my phone company display their own name rather than that of an unknown to me parent company when calling me ? Since a search of my emails produced no fewer than 85 emails from koodo  (not telus ) in the last 3 yrs trying to sell me upgrades why was I not informed of account issues by this method ? In this time I have also received literally dozens of annoying sales calls from koodo where they were informed I need to be receiving monthly bills and their reply was it wasn t their dept , why were my requests not forwarded to proper channels?  Why is it they could use my cr card to charge the monthly fee but not unknown arrears ?? All statements are to the best of my recollection being a senior and i,m requesting koodo , telus or any other unknown  related company to immediately remove these stains on my otherwise very good credit before I have to consult a lawyer to check if this is in fact legal...thanks for your attention to this matter.....rob m

Hi

I get your frustration, but just a heads-up that this is a public forum for customers. For some of these issues, you’ll need to speak with Koodo directly.

Regarding the reception, that’s a tricky one since it often depends on the towers in your area.

As for the billing, it’s really important to catch those errors early by checking monthly. As of now, I recommend you to go to www.koodo.com/chat and request a callback.

Dealing with collections and credit scores is definitely a challenge, but you'll have to discuss that negotiation directly with the Koodo rep when they call you back

Have you followed up with Equifax and TransUnion to obtain a copy of your credit report? Did you receive any bills with an outstanding balance from Koodo? Any letters or emails from a collection agency?

i check my credit on credit karma and i did disoute the late payments but its gonna be a real pain to follow through that route.  i have received over 85 sales emails from koodo since i joined and dozens of phone calls to upgrade  yet the only contact about arrears i received was the one call from telus that i assumed was a scam call since call display didn t show koodo . one simple email ,letter or text from koodo advising me of the arrears would have solved the issue and of course they had my cr card info as well. i realize this is a community forum but assumed koodo was watching this forum and wanted to know if my issues are shared with other users...thanks for your input..rob m

In that case, you can follow up by scheduling a callback through Koodo Assist and speaking with a rep to get more information on the outstanding balance. https://Koo.do/Chat

If you already reviewed your credit report and still want to dispute the entries, you can submit a request online with Equifax and TransUnion

a simple phone # i can call would be nice . yes i asked on chat multiple times for a return call but much later  got notified to log back on the site.   being a senior in a wheelchair currently by the time i got notified i was in the house and out of reach of my pc  with the pc in the shop   i  dont use my phone online or for typing.as it s too small.   i have ordered another tablet as i currently can t find mine since  it,s used so seldom.  this is becoming the pain i figured it would ..  thanks for your input.

There is no way to call Koodo directly. You can either schedule a callback through Koodo Assist or send a message to a rep on Facebook Messenger or Twitter. https://m.me/Koodo

unfortunately Koodo is focused more on “self-serve” options, so you need to schedule a callback on Koodo Assist and there are no general numbers to call from the customer side.  Do you mean you couldn’t schedule a callback or you missed it?

well i did manage to speak to a rep this weekend. her name was maleesh ( sp ?) she was real helpful and a credit to her company. unfortunately her higher ups were far less customer oriented. bottom line is koodo accepts zero blame for the issues and refuses to do anything about their slanderous credit reporting despite 1 they haqve my credit card info on file ( why wasn t this used to pay the arrears i knew nothing about ?) 2 call display showed koodo when the rep called this weekend and i was informed they have the ability to toggle from koodo to telus since they handle both. ( why am i being punished when their rep was too lazy or incompetent to display the proper company when contacting me about these arrears ?) 3 after combing through the 80 plus emails this company sent me not one is a monthly bill and i haven t seen a bill in years either through sms or emails. (impossible to pay a bill i don t know i owe ) all in all terrible customer service that i never received in the over 10 years dealing with rogers. guess it,s time to dispute these false accusations through the credit bureaus and consumers affairs office.  shame on you koodo for putting  a senior customer through this b.s. !!!

@TerryN This thread is about something completely different. It is best to start your own thread if it’s about something different.

Koodo is billed as more of a self-serve company. It depends on what you need for communication. You’ll have to be able to schedule a callback for internet troubleshooting.

In terms of increasing fees, Koodo tends to be one of the last ones to do that, but Koodo is relatively new to internet services. I wouldn’t expect fees for internet to go up for a long time, but it’s something that could happen anywhere anytime.

Internet service tends to be one of those things where if it’s working, it works and you’re fine.

@robmor Did you ask these questions with the rep and didn’t get answers or you weren;t satisfied with the answers provided?

For better or for worse, you’re ultimately responsible to ensure you’re making payments for services. Koodo might not send bills by mail/email, but you did setup a postpaid account with Koodo. Unless you eventually cancel it, you have a monthly bill to keep paying for, and it is visible in self-serve. Even if communication from Koodo falters, your bill is still generated the same day of the month, and is still due the same day of the month.

I don’t know about why a payment method on card was or wasn’t used, nor do I know what was said, except for you complaining in your original post about how you told Koodo the credit card on file was for a deposit and not to be used for monthly charges, and you most recently are wondering why the card wasn’t used for charges.

goran, the rep or koodo had no answers to my questions other than to basically say too bad pay your bills. i have been making the monthly payments and i was told credit card was for a deposit in case the monthly charges weren t paid  (as in arrears not current monthly charges ) . i find it unbeleivable that a company can contact me over 100 times in 3 years to try and get more of my money yet can t send a simple monthly bill or let me know i have arrears which i still don t know where they came from. my only contact about arrears came from a conpany i don t do business so i assumed was a scam . one call , text  or email from koodo could have solved this immediately. do you really beleive it s good business practice for a company to harass a customer well over 100 times for sales purposes then tell that same customer they are on their own to figure out what they owe the company ????
