my sordid koodo experiences

i switched from rogers to koodo about 3 years ago after I moved to a fairly remote location on the bruce penninsula. The rogers service was untenable on my iphone and my wife had better (though still real spotty )  results on koodo with her android phone. Unfortunately in the first few months it was apparent my new koodo service was rife with lost calls no signal ect . As a result I was forced to purchase and install a cell repeater and mini tower at my expence to get reliable reception. Around the same time I noted koodo charged the monthly bill to my credit card . I contacted them and let them know the card info was given to be used  as a deposit only and I never agreed to it being used for the monthly charges. Around the same timeline I stopped getting bills from koodo but continued paying the monthly fee. around 6 mos ago I noted a rapid uptick in telemarketing as well as scam calls..i ve had the same number for at least 15 years and never had this problem. Getting totally fed up with these calls I opted to alternetly ignore calls from unknown sources or answer and let them know my severe distaste for the unsolicited interruptions. A few months back I received a call from telus a company I had no ( known ) dealings with advising me I owed around $200 to koodo . Thinking it was yet another scam call since I was paying the monthly amount , haven t received a bill in years and call display didn t show koodo I lost it on the caller and advised them koodo had my email and cr card info for account issues so they could  take a hike and never call me again. I did a few weeks later visit my koodo account online and found I did indeed somehow have unknown arrears and promptly paid it wondering why I never was never notified (excluding a call from a then unknown to me company ) and where the arrears came from .  I have since noticed that koodo reported 2 late -missed payments on my credit rating. Since I can t pay a bill I have no knowlelge of I find this extremely unjust. After a 48 yr career as lic car , heavy truck and marine mechanic i have retired early for health reasons and am currently wheelchair bound pending further surgery. My credit rating is (or at least was ) v good to excellent , my hose is mortgage free and I have never had a late or missed pmnt om my credit so I m fairly confident I know how to pay my bills. All this begs these questions , why can t my phone company display their own name rather than that of an unknown to me parent company when calling me ? Since a search of my emails produced no fewer than 85 emails from koodo  (not telus ) in the last 3 yrs trying to sell me upgrades why was I not informed of account issues by this method ? In this time I have also received literally dozens of annoying sales calls from koodo where they were informed I need to be receiving monthly bills and their reply was it wasn t their dept , why were my requests not forwarded to proper channels?  Why is it they could use my cr card to charge the monthly fee but not unknown arrears ?? All statements are to the best of my recollection being a senior and i,m requesting koodo , telus or any other unknown  related company to immediately remove these stains on my otherwise very good credit before I have to consult a lawyer to check if this is in fact legal...thanks for your attention to this matter.....rob m

Hi

I get your frustration, but just a heads-up that this is a public forum for customers. For some of these issues, you’ll need to speak with Koodo directly.

Regarding the reception, that’s a tricky one since it often depends on the towers in your area.

As for the billing, it’s really important to catch those errors early by checking monthly. As of now, I recommend you to go to www.koodo.com/chat and request a callback.

Dealing with collections and credit scores is definitely a challenge, but you'll have to discuss that negotiation directly with the Koodo rep when they call you back

Have you followed up with Equifax and TransUnion to obtain a copy of your credit report? Did you receive any bills with an outstanding balance from Koodo? Any letters or emails from a collection agency?
