Hello Koodo Community,
I would like to raise a concern about how my Tab Bonus contract end date was presented in my agreement, which I believe is unclear and misleading, and resulted in an unexpected charge after I ported out.
Here is my situation:
- I purchased a Refurbished iPhone from Koodo with a Tab agreement.
- The agreement clearly shows on the first page:
- Agreement Effective Date: December 2, 2024
- Agreement End Date: January 2, 2025 (renews month‑to‑month)
Based on this, I reasonably understood that my agreement obligations ended on January 2, 2025.
Pricing details shown in the agreement:
- Full retail price: $1,049
- Total Tab amount: ‑$288
- Tab Bonus: ‑$761
Before porting out my number, I specifically checked the agreement and relied on the Agreement End Date shown at the top of the first page. Because that date had already passed, I believed there would be no remaining Tab Bonus obligation.
However, after porting out last month, I received a bill for $437.06 + tax (total $493.88), broken down as:
- $317.06 – Tab Bonus cancellation
- $120 – Tab debit
My concern:
The Agreement End Date is displayed very clearly and prominently, but the Tab Bonus repayment condition and its true end requirement are not equally clear or obvious at that point.
As a customer, when I see an agreement labeled as ended and month‑to‑month, it is reasonable to assume that all contractual commitments — including promotional credits — have ended unless clearly stated otherwise next to that end date.
If the Tab Bonus requires staying active beyond the listed Agreement End Date, this should be:
- Clearly stated on the first page, or
- Explicitly labeled as a separate commitment with its own end date
Because of this presentation, I made a decision based on the information shown, which led to an unexpected and significant charge.
I am posting this to:
- Ask Koodo to review this case fairly
- Request a reassessment or adjustment of the Tab Bonus cancellation charge
- Provide feedback that the contract layout may mislead customers in similar situations
I appreciate any assistance from moderators or Koodo representatives.
Thank you.
