Koodo abuses the elderly/pensioners and responds with solutions from the last century that take 4 to 6 weeks

paid two Koodo bills twice, I spoke with my bank who told me to talk to Koodo. Today, Sunday, I spent an hour and a half on the phone to resolve the issue, and what they promised was to send a check in 4 to 6 weeks. I am a retiree who lives on my pension; any institution in this country would return an overcharge immediately.

We  have limited access here on the community when it comes to payment related inquiries.

The refund for payment via online banking is indeed refunded by cheque, which takes longer than refund for payments made via credit card.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone, spoke with customer support, spoke with the refund department who spoke with management, and the solution is to send a check that can take 4 to 6 weeks... this in 2026 and for an elderly retired person. I need the money to be returned to me ASAP.

It is their standard refund policy, and it applies to all customers equally — it does not single out seniors. You can review the details here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/your-koodo-bill-after-you-cancel 

I recommend checking the private message you received on the forum and following up with the representative there.

Regarding the double payment, could you share what happened? Did you accidentally pay twice, or was there another issue?

That is a pretty normal method of returning your money. If you used a credit card, it would have been quicker, but you used your bank account instead.

If you are unsatisfied with this option, you can actually suggest an Idea to consider making refunds by direct deposit to the chequing account with a quicker turnaround time.

Ok, you suggested it but it's not an option?
Right, we are not going anywhere... Koodo may not help but I'm sure that social media and the Canadian courts will help.

The Koodo rep confirmed to you that the cheque is going to be mailed out to your address, so there is a solution. It is just not the one you expected.

You are welcome to provide input, but it will not change the current situation. If you suggest it as an Idea, it may help change the way refunds are done in the future.
