I’m currently in Australia and have an e-sim. I have my data roaming off for my phone, however I got charged for 2 days of international usage; a total of 5 minutes. My e-sim obviously got disconnected for some reason, but why did I still get charged if my data is off?

Hi there,

So if the charge was Easy Roam then you get charged for either using any call time, sending a text message, or using data while out of country. Receiving texts are free however as long as it doesn't require data to do so. So even if you didn't use data, if you called or texted you would be charged. If you dont have Easy Roam then pay per use rates will apply.

So have you made any calls or any texts? You can find out specifically by downloading your pdf bill through self serve, it will tell you what number triggered the charges and when. Steps can be found in the link below 🙂👍

Hi @Tarynmcdiarmid we have looked into the charges you mentioned and they were triggered by a call to your voicemail one of the dates and an incoming call the other date while roaming. For more details, please check the usage section in you self serve.

For more information on how to prevent unwanted roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296

The charges are valid, but if you would like to dispute them further you can schedule a call-back through our Koodo Assist or send us a private message on social media via Facebook, X/Twitter or Instagram.
