Hi there,

what does the bill say that the charge was for? Very rarely are you presented a charge that high without a reasoning.

To download the full pdf bill, you can follow the steps below. When you do, what does it say the charges were for?

Viewing and downloading your bills | Koodo Mobile

Yes I tried. Here is what it says…

Balance forward from your last bill .............................................. $0.00

This reflects payments of $78.75

New charges

Mobile services $286.00

Taxes $34.67

Total new charges ................................................................. $320.67

Total due...............................................................$320.67

The total due will be charged to your bank account 15 days from your

bill date

When you check the other pages of the full PDF bill, what does it outline as the cause of the mobile service charge?

It will tell you specifically what had caused the service charges such as pay per use texting to the USA etc.

Looks like I called puralator and have been looted calling it USA call.

Long Distance - Domestic Phone $0.00

Free 7:00 (MIN)

Total used 7:00 (MIN)

Long Distance - US/International Voice

$216.00

Usage

Additional 120:00 (MIN)

Total used 120:00 (MIN)

Data Usage $0.00

Total used 940.903 (MB)

Text Msg - Received $0.00

Total used 10 (Msg)

Local Airtime - Phone (minutes) $0.00

Included 129:00 (MIN)

Total used 129:00 (MIN)

Total usage charges ...............................................................................$216.00

hm, when you called Purolator was it at their toll-free number here:  1-888-SHIP-123 (1-888-744-7123)

if so, you should not have been charged as it is toll free. If not and you did call a US number, and US calling is not included in your plan, then this would be the reason the charge was triggered.

Hi Oliver,  Indeed it is 888 744-7123    -  800 CALL CL - 29:00 minutes and I have been charged. Not sure what to do. Thanks for your response

That doesnt sound right as the Purolator number is a toll-free call, and Purolator is Canadian.  Are you sure it was the (1-888-744-7123) number that Koodo is charging you for?

When you look at your pdf ebill and go to your call history, which calls are being charged?

Exactly that’s is why I am surprised. Tired of these legal scams. Got trapped by their 10$ discount to add my bank account, will not be able charge back as I haven’t used my credit card.

It says you used 120 min of long distance. On the final pages of your ebill it should break down what calls were charged.
Were all 120 min to purolator and indeed you were charged for?
You only mention a 29min call. Could you share a screenshot showing that you were charged for this call?

Hello @FightingLegalScams We verified the charges on the February invoice and the $216 long distance charges, showed in the example you shared above are charged for Long distance calls from Canada to India. The details of the calls will also show on the detailed invoice when downloaded as PDF

The number called does not reflect the number shared above. The charged calls appear on the 7’th page of the February invoice. We will also include the example here ( For privacy reasons, we masked the last 4 digits of the number called and the town you were located at the time):

From what can be verified, the rate plan on the number starting with 672, that was charged for Long Distance, does not cover for International long distance to India and the charges are valid.

Looks like my spouse spoke outside Canada thinking it’s a WhatsApp call, Koodos team, how do I block it?  I am not ready for any other surprises, based on our unconscious patterns.

Anyway I still don’t understand the logic in this world when WhatsApp call is free and I am being charged for 216$.

I can clearly see the way you protect the privacy with the screenshot of exposing the called numbers.  I am quitting Koodo and I am glad this incident happened. Anyway I don’t feel the intentions are right.

Like we mentioned in the post, part of the number is masked and the number is incomplete. The partial number in the image was included to clarify that the number was not the toll-free number mentioned above. If you prefer, we can remove it altogether.

So you were upset and claimed Koodo scammed you.

And then Koodo showed that you did indeed call India (which you confirmed that your spouse made an error). And now you are quitting Koodo because you claim their intentions are not right?

It was a legit call made on your phone.  You can claim that it is illogical that whatsapp calls are free but normal long distance calls are not, but you knew this is the world we live in.

And since you had difficulty understanding your bill, the rep did show you the charge including partially showing the number you called.  The number is not fully exposed.  It is partially covered, but revealed enough for you confirm the calls

Dennis,
1. Firstly, She hasn’t made the error, the system is designed to loot money out of unconscious behaviour by making that a default settings. Never had this issue for with FIDO I’m using them for a very long time. Charging me 216$ for something WhatsApp gives free by enabling roaming calls without indicating us might sound right for you, not for me.

  1. There is no response on how to avoid it.

anyways thank you for your response.

Thinking one thing but did another sounds like the definition of an error,

Never had this issue for with FIDO I’m using them for a very long time. Charging me 216$ for something WhatsApp gives free by enabling roaming calls without indicating us might sound right for you, not for me.

How did Fido prevent this?

Did your spouse ever mistakenly not use whatapps to call and Fido prevented the call?  Or did your spouse not make this error with Fido?

Do you have an android or iphone?  iPhone does not have native settings to block international calls, but android does have some options.

@FightingLegalScams  From what can be verified, the number in question has an option to select a perk that is included in the rate plan. The currently selected perk is a data Bonus, however, it can be switched to the Unlimited Long Distance pack. More details on that can be found here (you can find the included countries further down the page).

If you want to keep the bonus data as the perk included in the plan, you can add the Unlimited Long Distance pack as an extra, for $10 per month.

Edit: As you mentioned that you are not comfortable with the partial number. We also masked it altogether from the above posts.

Fido had 1000 min free calls to India(4G) for a better price. The sales guy who called me lured me with all 5G nonsense, which I am regretting now.
