Hi everyone,
I’m posting here because what happened on my latest bill feels completely unreasonable, and I’m hoping someone can explain how this is supposed to make sense.
I just got back from Korea. When I landed, I turned off airplane mode for less than a minute so I could switch over to my eSIM. I didn’t open any apps, didn’t use data, didn’t do anything — literally just toggled airplane mode off. Within seconds, I was hit with over $100 in roaming usage charges.
From everything I’ve read, any roaming activity should trigger the $18/day Easy Roam, not a massive pay‑per‑use fee. My monthly bill is normally around $55, so with Easy Roam the total should have been about $73. Instead, I was billed $160.
I contacted Koodo support and explained that the roaming happened instantly and unintentionally, and that I had an eSIM for the entire trip. Despite that, they said they could only credit me $40, which still leaves me paying far more than the Easy Roam rate I should have been charged.
I don’t think it’s reasonable for a customer to be charged $100+ in under a minute for something that should fall under the $18 Easy Roam cap. Has anyone dealt with this before, and is there a way to get this corrected so the charges reflect the proper Easy Roam amount?
Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
