First Bill

I just started my Koodo service on March 1st, but I got a text message for a bill today (the 12th). I’m being charged full amounts for service from March 1-9, is this normal? Like this bill is a lot more than I expected and I’m not too happy about it.

Yes, it is normal. First bill includes a partial billng cycle and a full month ahead. However, you would have a few week to pay, the payment isn’t due now.

Okay, so in general, Koodo bills a month in advance of usage?

Yes, that is the case for postpaid plans. Other Canadian carriers operate in the same manner as well.

As does your cable provider, internet provider, and landline provider. It's been standard practice for decades

Haha, right. I just moved back to Canada from the US, this time independently, so I’m (re)learning how things work. Thanks!
