Did not change my $20/30GB plan and price bumped up to $27/month with no prior notification

Hi:

I just got my February bill and to my shock the price has been bumped up by $7 with no prior notification in my previous bill or by email. In the Self Serve it’s indicating that “Your bill's higher this month because you changed your plan.” - NO I DID NOT, so stop stating incorrectly Koodo.

I have tried to schedule a callback and of course it keeps looping and looping and does not allow me to do so. What options do I have to speak to an agent and get my plan back to $20? When I had signed up it was confirmed to me that this is a permanent price and will never go up.

Thanks.

Did you check your previous bill? There should be a section in small print at the bottom of the last page notifying you of the rate increase.

Yes noticed it now, of course it’s in “fine” print and no one bothers to read it:

Update to your monthly rate plane (LOL it’s plan)
Starting in February 2026, your monthly rate plan fee will increase from $20 to $27. If you do not agree with this change, you may cancel your service without
penalty within 30 days of the effective date of the change. If you recently changed or upgraded your plan, please disregard this message.

So the effective date is my February bill start date then - February 10th? And why is it noted as “you may cancel your service without penalty”? What penalty is being referred to when I am not under any contract with Koodo? I’m on a BYOD plan.

In your case there will be no penalty since there is no tab.  It is redundant, but some customers are not as knowledgeable, so the extra emphasis is a reminder.

I’m was also on the same $20 that got bumped to $27/mth this month.  I’m not please Koodo didn’t send out an email to inform of this change but rather choose to put in on the bill in a small fine print on the last paragraph of the bill.  Pretty sneaky if you ask me.  For people who are on month to month plans that don’t expect this to happen, no one is going to look at their bill every month to read through this.  That’s almost a 50% increase.

I’m also not happy the wording which says “you changed your plan” when in fact I didn’t change my plan, it’s the same plan and it was Koodo that changed the princing.

NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER

Sneaky  Yes, but every other telco does the same thing.  And when you have a bargin plan like this one is, you better expect some price increases regardless of which telco you are with.
